JOB TITLE:MANAGER

REPORTS TO:Chair of Trustees for Home-Start Camden (HSC)

RESPONSIBLE FOR:All Staff

SALARY:£27,511-£31,792 for 28 hour per week

(£35,371-£40,875 FTE including ILW)

ANNUAL LEAVE: 25 days p/a pro rate (plus 2 concessionary days)

HOURS:28 hours per week

OFFICE LOCATION: 7 Dowdney Close, Kentish Town, London NW5 2BP

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the job is to oversee the operation of all aspects of the scheme on behalf of the Trustees ensuring that the established team delivers the services agreed by the funders and that all the Home-Start Articles of Association, Standards and Quality Assurance are met. The Manager is expected to come up with innovative and creative ideas, especially with regard to possible partnerships and to the future sustainability of the scheme.

Responsibilities

Managing the charity

  • To take responsibility for and to have oversight of all the operational aspects of the scheme
  • To report to the Trustees on the effectiveness and efficiency of the scheme
  • To ensure all Home-Start policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed
  • To ensure that the administrative, monitoring evaluation and financial procedures are effective
  • To assist with funding applications by providing costing, risk assessment, and appropriate delivery targets
  • To lead the staff team and ensure all employees receive effective supervision, appraisal, and development/training, and resources are used in the most effective way
  • To support the Board of Trustees in recruitment, selection, induction, direction and opportunities for development for all employees
  • To assist trustees with specific responsibilities (e.g. treasurer, company secretary)
  • To contribute to and support the development of the Home-Start network locally, regionally and nationally.

Project Management and Reporting

  • To project manage all funded projects for the Scheme and delegate as required.
  • To report findings of monitoring and evaluation to funders and to trustees in written and oral form.

Sustainability and Working in Partnership

  • To build strategies, introducing innovative developments where appropriate, for the continued sustainability of the scheme in conjunction with the trustees
  • To assist with the organisation, promotion and delivery of fund-raising events together with identified trustees and volunteers
  • To ensure appropriate liaison and communication with referrers and other professionals
  • To contribute to local policy and community development as appropriate.

Support for families

  • To maintain an overview of the co-ordinators work with families liaising with the senior co-ordinator
  • To undertake the Strategic Lead role on safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.

Managing Volunteers

  • To ensure the scheme maintains an effective team of volunteers.
  • To ensure that the Home-Start preparation course is delivered in full and to a high standard to all prospective volunteers.

General

  • The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.
  • Any substantial or major changes will be negotiated.

Agreed Time of in Lieu (TOIL) is available for evening or weekend work.
