Role Title: Fundraising Manager

Salary: £27,000 - £35,000

Reports to: Chair and Treasurer, accountable to the Trustees

Location: Cherry Lodge Cancer Care, Howard House, 23 Union Street, High Barnet, Herts, EN5 4HY

Summary of the Role’s Main Purpose:

To deliver and increase Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s fundraising activities so as to support and improve services to members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for delivering required annual income through a programme of new and existing fundraising activities to include the following:
  • Third party and Cherry Lodge in-house events
  • Regular income via standing orders, direct debit and payroll giving
  • Corporate partnerships
  • Trusts and Foundations
  • Individual donations
  • Identify and attend networking opportunities to increase Cherry Lodge’s supporter base
  • To manage a team of volunteer fundraisers
  • To develop a fundraising strategy for the Charity showing growth in income, in line with the Charity’s objectives
  • To ensure that the quarterly Cherry Lodge newsletter is published and distributed to Cherry Lodge members and supporters
  • Be responsible for the fundraising section of the website.
  • Organise receptions for volunteers and supporters.

Person Specification:

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge of different methods of fundraising
  • Knowledge of fundraising operational procedures (e.g. health & safety, financial processes, risk assessments etc.)
  • Basic awareness of PR
Desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of fundraising principles, methods and procedures
Skills/Abilities
Essential
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Able to identify and analyse cost effective fundraising opportunities and evaluate their potential
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Able to build and maintain good working relationships with people
  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise own workload

  • Empathy for those with cancer

Experience
Essential
  • Has raised funds in a community setting on a paid or voluntary basis or has worked in a related discipline (e.g. marketing, sales, project management etc...)
  • Has worked as part of a team
  • Has experience of managing in-house events, as well as those which are community led.
  • Experience of setting and working to budgets, targets and plans
  • Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Experience of co-ordinating collections
Desirable
Experience of planning and managing local events
  • Has successfully managed an income and expenditure budget
  • Has conducted local event marketing/PR
  • Has experience of recruiting and managing volunteer fundraising groups
  • Has delivered presentations to local community groups including local businesses and has recruited sponsors/supporters
  • Experience of delivering talks to schools & local organisations

Other requirements:

  • Graduate/A-level educated
  • Computer literate
  • Must hold a clean driving licence and own a car
  • Must be willing to work unsocial hours

Working arrangements at Cherry Lodge.

The successful applicant will be required to share an office with the Charity Administrator and to attend staff team meetings once a fortnight. To assist colleagues, from time to time, to facilitate the smooth running of Cherry Lodge.

This appointment is conditional on successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.
