REPORT ON DELTA FORUM AT VALES POINT POWER STATION ON THURSDAY 9-7-2012

The meeting was opened by Mr. Glenn Sharrock at 500pm.who welcomed everyone and introduced Delta’s Chief Executive Mr Greg Everett. He stated that the demand for power was low althoughit was a cold winter and was due toinstallation of wind power and Solar panels. The low demand would probably continue until2013 Number 6. Unit was out of service for three months for a major overhaul and is currently back in service. He said that the life of Vales Point would continue until 1928 -29

He explained that the total Electricity production in N.S.W. was, Coal Fired Power stations 82.6%. Snowy Hydro 4.6% Natural Gas 5.6 %. Others 7.3% which consisted of Wind Power -- Biomass -- Landfill gas and Solar Power .Of these Solar produced the largest amount being 31 %

Mr. Everett said that Munmorah Power Station was closed on the 3rd of July. Demolition would not commence at this stage. It was confirmed that Koala Park will continue to be available for the Community.

Mr. Sharrock went on to say that Coal from Chain Valley Coal Mine is transported direct to the Power station ( instead of via Rutley’s Road ) Fifty percent of the coal supplies would come by Rail from Cobbora Coalmine situated near Dunedoo once the mine is in operation. Rail and Conveyor supplies would continue from Centennuel and Xtrata. Biomass which commenced late in 2012 averaged five truck loads per week. An average of six truckloads of soil were arriving at the ash dam to recap over the filled paddocks of ash. Approximately 10 to 15 %of the ash dam is now complete. Demolition of the “A” staion was continueing and up to 11truck loads of recycled materials were leaving the Power Station per week

Mr. Sharrock provided information on the N.S.W.. sale of Power stations .The sale strategy would be available by the end of September 2012 He said that Delta was still waiting on the feasibility study which is still continuing by L.D.O. on transporting of coal to the rail network

A trial is successfully underway by all Employees now tested for Drug and Alcohol. Over 75% of staff voted for the program. Once the trial is completed it will be implemented across Delta

Anthony Callon stated that the Carbon Capturing Plant in conjunction with C.S.I.R.O. was removed from Munmorah and is being installed at Vale Point . Discussion took place about Carbon Storage sites and that geotechnical work was on going. Heating was the major cost of running the Carbon Capturing Plant and they would install Solar Panels to supply power to heat the plant. Converting the CO2 gas was one hundred times less in volume when converted to a liquidand would be buried 800 feet in the ground to prevent the liquid converting back into a gas .
