World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce India, Delhi Chapter

Report for 2003-2004

Delhi Chapter was launched on 12th January 2003 and the inaugural was attended by Mr. Rohinton Rivetna the Founder President of the WZCC. Other members from abroad were also present. The membership of the chapter now stands at about fifty five.

THE MANAGING COMMITTEE:

During the year the following Committee Members resigned:

A new Committee was formed as under :

2. Veera Mavalwala, Secretary

3. Jamshed Sidhwa, Treasurer

5. Nergish Mistry

6. Navroze Dhondy

7. Hosie Sooi

8. Percy Batliwala

Dadi Mistry continues to represent the Indian Chapter on the WZCC, Chicago Board. Rustom Daroga, in his capacity as President of the Delhi Chapter, was nominated on the Board in Mumbai.

EVENTS:

The following events were organised during the year.

1. In August 2003 a lecture on "Customer Relationship Management" followed by high tea was organised at the Radisson Hotel . The speaker was Mr. Christopher Doyle Regional Director Sales and Reservations - India, Hilton worldwide. About twenty five members attended.

2. In December 2003 a cocktail and dinner function was organised at the Radisson Hotel to felicitate Mr. Fali Nariman on his being elected as an Honorary Member on the WZCC Board in Chicago for outstanding achievements in furthering the cause of peace and justice worldwide. The International President Mr. Rohinton Rivetna came to Delhi and presenteda plaque to Mr. Nariman. About forty members attended.

3. Taking advantage of the presence of two of our international guests Ms. Zareen Karani Araoz of USA and Mr. Karan F. Billimoria, President of the UK Chapter, the members of the committee had an interactive session with them over lunch at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

4. In April 2004 eight members of the Delhi Chapter were part of the Delegation that visited Dubai.

5. In August 2004 a cocktail and dinner function was organised at the DLF City Club where Mr. Ravi Boothalingam, former President of the Oberoi Group of Hotels worldwide,gave an interesting lecture and slide presentation of his visit to Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash. This was attended by over sixty members and their guests ....the largest turnout for any WZCC function in Delhi.

NOMINATION:

The international body of the WZCC has constituted various awards. The Delhi Chapter nominated Ms Bachi Karkaria, noted journalist for the Outstanding Zarathusti Professional of the Year Award (results of the nomination are still awaited).
