Summary – Central West venues

Central West NSW consists of the local government areas of: Bathurst Region, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western Region, Oberon, Orange, Parkes, Wellington. (Weddin Council is currently a non-contributing council and so is not serviced by Arts OutWest).

Arts OutWest has over 1000 public, community and commercial venues listed on the Central West Cultural Directory. These include a handful of purpose built arts and cultural spaces; commercial spaces that have varying degrees of arts and cultural use; outdoor spaces used for festivals and large performances; and number of halls and meeting rooms and other community spaces used in some way for arts and cultural activity. The later group are in varing states of upkeep.

Below is an outline of the facilities owned/ managed by local government and communituy groups. A full list of venues is attached.

Orange Regional Conservatorium (Orange). Orange has a medium sized auditorium.

Numerous commercial venues used in varying ways for arts, cultural and community activities. These include Leauges Clubs, Services / RSL Clubs and Bowling clubs, which in many towns are the only indoor ‘public facility’ for shows, live music, meetings, workshops, dance etc. This is particularily the case in the west of the region in larger towns such as Parkes and smaller towns such as Tottenham, Tullamore etc.
