Report for FRC CKPS – AGM Address
Evening Ladies and Gentlemen
This year has been another very full and busy year with a lot happening.
I want to start off by listing some project and improvements which the money we have raised has gone towards. I suggest you take a walk around and have a look. It makes you feel so proud to be apart of CKPS.
The swimming pool was a main project this year, the up keep and painting of the corridors, new gazebos which looked so nice on the winter sports day and at the fun run. There are still two more projects which will be done in the next few weeks. These are upgrading the electricity supply and water supply to the field. We have also approved that covering of the main grandstands so that it looks the same as the ones on the side of the field. These are just a few of the projects which have taken place this year.
I can tell you about our big fundraisers and how successful they have been but I am sure we all know the Father and child camp out the Winter sports day, Gladiator day,Silver coin day and Fun run but I would like to tell you more about the other fundraisers which are small things but which raise a lot of money as well.
1stly the My School Card. This year we have pushed this with amazing results and all it takes is a swipe of a card for our school to get funds back. This year we have almost doubled our income from my school card. The amount raised this year just on this fundraiser is just under R30 000 and it cost us very little and it’s a constant income. I urge you parents to please swipe your cards.
Another fundraiser which I would like to mention is the 2nd Hand shop. They have raised just under R25 000. I urge you to send in clothes which you don’t use and take the time out to go and have a look at the shop.It is not a normal 2nd hand shop. Take a look you will be pleasantly surprised.
Getting back to our normal events it was with great excitement we managed to secure a date for Gladiator day and again this event was well supported and enjoyed by all the children as well as the parents who took the time off work and out of their busy schedules and braved the sun to make this event safe and enjoyable for the Children. A big thank you.
Our last event was the Fun Run. This being our first year without Miss Shellard. I would like to say a big well done to Mr Richard for taking on this challenge and working together as a team I think we pulled off once a again a good event. I would like to make special mention to Mrs Taylor who organized our DJ sponsored by Coke and also for the many other things she helped with. Also to Jennifer Kinsella for helping put this event together and then to Mrs Annelise van Blerk who in my absence ran the event with great success. Thank you to you all.
That was the year of fun filled events. I would like to thank the educators for all their assistance in every event. Without them we could not do this. Then to all our parents who have taken part in these events. Thank you. Because of all of your support we have managed to raise of R260 000.
On closing I would say farewell from me. We are leaving CPKS to relocate to Namibia. I wish the new committee and chairlady all the best and just keep in mind it’s all for the good of our children’s education and enjoyment.
