MINUTES – June 27, 2014 meeting
Iowa Infrastructure Report Card committee – Iowa Section ASCE
- Review and approve May minutes
Motion by Vander Wert, second by Mulholland, passed.
- Status reports from Infrastructure sub-committees
Reviewed the list of categories and ‘champions’ of each. Received progress reports for each one as follows:
- Aviation – Initial data gathering has begun (DeVries)
- Bridges – Have data in hand, working on preliminary grading plan (Mulholland)
- Inland waterways – no action (McCoy)
- Rail – Data has been obtained and uploaded to e-Room; analysis and grading come next (DeVries)
- Roads – partly ready to assign grades; talking to cities about their situations (Mulholland)
- Dams – have met with Jon Garton of Iowa DNR to obtain data; one challenge is lack of records on privately owned facilities. (Reed)
- Levees – of the approximately 900 miles of levee in Iowa, 500 are under US Army COE jurisdiction; the other 400 are tracked by Iowa DNR (Sebern)
- Drinking water – no report (Boelk)
- Wastewater – no report (Claman)
- Energy – Have gathered data on transmission and production (Shimkus)
- Solid Waste – Have met with Iowa Solid Waste Operators Association; still gathering data (Granquist, Moniza, Quinn)
- Discussion of media graphics and public relations services
No proposals have yet been received. De Vries advised that a recheck with the five firms to which RFP’s had been sent indicates that three are interested and will be submitting responses. We have had to extend the turn-in deadline, but should have packages to consider in July. - Next meeting
To be held on-line – via Goto Meeting – on Thursday, July 31, 2014 @ 10:00 AM
