Introductions

The Unlimited team finished 2nd again in Florida, They also won the Sportsmanship Award. Congratulations to the unlimited team.

Gary will not be coaching the unlimited team this year. We will be taking candidates but Gary will be very selective with who he gives that position to. It will need to be someone that will represent both Manogue and RPW very well. Gary met with Manogue and we do have the fields this year.

Manogue will also be doing an NFL flag football league this year, they are charging $150 per kid, and it will be K-8. Each player will get a jersey, mouthpiece, and flag set.

Reno Pop Warner will be doing flag football this year. Do we want to do it in April, May and June or during the season? It will be for TM & MM ages. If any coaches want to coach and bring some of their team with them they are welcome to. Mike Herman did this in South California and we have been kicking around the idea. It maybe hard to get it going for this spring but it stills a possibility. It will help to grow our league and help our numbers. Craig Connolly from the Peninsula has been doing this for a while and has offered to come down and help us. It would be one day a week, no practice and 8 on 8 with a continuous clock.

Last year we did a poker tournament between Galena and RPW. We made $18,000 in which RPW received $9000 with Galena receiving the other $9000. Then we did RPW day which was a wash, then there was the coupon books which we raised $12,000. We would still like to do the poker tournament, and this year the coupon books will be an app that you can put on your phone and be able to use anywhere in the U.S. Sparks Pop Warner does a raffle in which the winner would receive a monetary prize. 1st place would receive $2,000, 2nd $1,500, 3rd $300, 4th & 5th $100. Tickets cost $5 a piece or 6 for $25. They were able to raise between $30,000 & $40,000 after cost. Each kid is given $125 worth of tickets to sell and the one that sells the most gets a sweatshirt. We could do something like this and offer coaches whose team sells the most either 10% to 20% back to their team funds. We could announce the winners at RPW day. Now would we do raffles at RPW day and Poker Tournament, as it will bombard parents in the beginning? (Will table till until we the cost of helmet recertification and costs of tickets). Danielle will send a mass email to everyone so we can start getting ideas.

We were offered to work the Reno Aces games, Sparks has done this and said that it is a waste of time, they only made $2000 - $3000 after working 10 times for 9hr shifts.

Turkey Bowl/Regional – At the Sagebrush meeting last month the Presidents were told to go back to their boards and discuss if they liked playing the Turkey Bowl which will be here this year. Or do we want to play in the Regionals in Santa Clara? Cheer Regionals will never be on Thanksgiving again.

Motion: That we play Regionals and Turkey Bowl

The idea of starting the games a week early has been discussed. We would start games only one week early, which would be Labor Day weekend. Due to complaints about playing games Thanksgiving Day. TM would be done before Halloween, MM done a week later unless they have snow bowl invitation. We would still keep the same practice schedule. We would also save money on lights; we would have better weather for a while. Kids would already be in schools so some will not be taking vacations. Kids are usually ready to play anyways.

Jamboree will be 8/27 in Fallon

1st Game – September 2nd

Equipment: Inventory this month weather permitting. Will be emailing coaches and board member, could possibly do it the 20th. All Adams helmets cannot be recertified. Matt is still working with Schutt on prices.

Coaches call your kids and get them to this next early bird as well as the next sign ups. We don’t want to buy a bunch of helmets have them sitting there.

Jim spoke to a mom at sign ups on Saturday about the fact that Waylon has not had his party yet and Abby telling her that we were not giving team funds out which is not true Cesar has had a check ready for her to pick up. Out SOP’s state that after 12/31 teams funds will go to the league, to current Cesar is still dealing with team funds. Cesar is still received emails that the league is not paying. Where are the consequences for the slander by coaches and business managers?

The Glazier coach’s clinic this year will be $10. Mike Herman will get with all the coaches about being there.

What should team funds be this year? Matt Lewis feels this should be tabled until the next meeting when he should have he costs of helmets.

Motion: To approve the minutes from 1-10
