Renewal of your temporary residence permit

If you were issued a temporary residence permit for residence in the Republic of Slovenia for the purpose of employment or work and you would like to continue residing in the Republic of Slovenia for the same purpose after the expiry of the indicated permit, you may apply for a renewal of the permit.

As for the issue of the first temporary residence permit, another person (employer, research organisation, representative of a contracting party) may also apply for a renewal of the permit on your behalf.

A temporary residence permit may be renewed under the same conditions as issued; therefore, to the application, you must submit the same evidence of the fulfilment of conditions as for the acquisition of the first residence permit.

Application for the renewal of a temporary residence permit should be filed at an administrative unit prior to the expiry of the validity of the permit you would like to renew.

Besides the fulfilment of the indicated conditions for the renewal of a permit, during this procedure, the administrative unit must again verify whether or not there are any reasons as to why your permit should not be issued (for instance, threat to public order, security and international relations, failure to respect the legal order of the Republic of Slovenia, etc).

Further temporary residence permit

If you would like to continue residing in the Republic of Slovenia after the expiry of your temporary residence permit for another purpose besides that for which your valid permit was issued, you may apply for the issue of a further temporary residence permit (for instance, you may reside in the Republic of Slovenia on the basis of a temporary residence permit for the purpose of studies, while after its expiry, you would like to reside in the Republic of Slovenia for the purpose of employment).

This application must also be filed at an administrative unit prior to the expiry of the validity of the temporary residence permit. The conditions, procedure and method of issue are the same as for the renewal of a temporary residence permit.
