Dear Room 210 student and family,
Each week we will practice and review a variety of spelling patterns that will help your child to build upon their knowledge of letter/word relationships. Spelling is assessed in our formal writing pieces, but review of these patterns is done through the use of our spelling contract. This is also a great way to earn extra points for your team!
On Monday, your student will complete a spelling pre-test. These will serve as the words that should be used to complete weekly spelling pod point tasks. The students will record these words in their homework book each week.Below are the requirements for our spelling contact!
Each week you (the student ) are responsible for earning spelling points. These points will go toward your team points. Each week you will choose activities from the Spelling Contract Grid. You are responsible for completing AT LEAST 3 tasks per week and should begin your work on Monday, with everything stapled together and handed in by Friday morning. In addition to our classroom heading, please include the letter of the activity completed on the top of each assignment. I expect the assignments to be done neatly. I need to be to read your work in order to assign the correct number of points. Every few months, I will change the spelling activities. I will make that sheet a different color so it will be easy to tell them apart. I look forward to seeing some of the spelling creating you come up with!
*Make sure your student keeps his/her spelling contract in their binder as they will reuse it weekly to complete tasks.
* Each task is assigned a point value. Each task completed correctly will earn your student that number of points for their team. I will add of these points in at the end of the month to see who has won our team challenge!
Spelling words can always be found by online at:
Please read and review the spelling contract and directions with your student. Sign and return the bottom portion of this form.
Thank you,
