Reliable sealing plugs for sheet-metal housings
Lohne, June 2009. – The new GPN915 sealing plugs from the standard KAPSTO® range of Pöppelmann GmbH & Co. KG Kunststoffwerk – Werkzeugbau, Lohne/Germany, are the ideal temporary or permanent means of sealing holes in sheet-metal housings for industrial and/or consumer products. A further development of the GPN910, these flat-type plugs feature a broad, highly elastic outer sealing lip and a retaining lug that grips the sheet metal from behind. The flexibility of the sealing lip and the retaining lug is such that the sealing plug will effectively prevent the ingress of liquids and other contaminants within a sheet-metal thickness range of 0.5 to 3.0mm. Moreover, the GPN915 sealing plugs are distinguished by their firm and reliable seating, permitting diameter tolerances of up to 2mm. A further advantage is that the outside of the plug, when fitted, lies virtually flush with the metal surface of the housing, which means that there is no waste of space during storage and transport and the plugs cannot be inadvertently dislodged during handling. Thanks to their appealing, matt-black finish, the new GPN 915 sealing plugs are also suitable for permanent application.
The GPN 915 plugs can be readily fitted and removed, as they are injection moulded from a highly flexible TPE (thermoplastic polyester elastomer). They meet the highly demanding thermal stability and chemical resistance requirements of the automotive industry and come in six sizes for hole diameters ranging from 12 to 35mm.
Constantly undergoing further development and improvement and manufactured in Pöppelmann's own production facilities, the standard KAPSTO® range comprises more than 3,000 different plastic protective plugs and caps for immediate ex stock delivery. Special versions, e.g. plugs combining sealing and assembling functions, can be designed and developed by Pöppelmann's own team of application engineers exactly in accordance with customer requirements.
