Position Objectives: / To ensure the provision of a high quality innovative educational program that meets the needs of the children aged from birth to 6 years.
To ensure the care and educational program aligns with the Early Childhood Services Philosophy, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework as well as the National Quality Standards.

Key Responsibility Areas: / 1. Provide safe, quality care and education that meets the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011) and the Education and Care Services national Law Act (2010).
2. Ensure that all interactions with the children and families are positive, respectful and friendly, and to be available to liaise with families on their child/ren’s day at the service including daily routines and experiences.
3. Create opportunities and actively support children to contribute to decision making using ethical consultation processes at the service in line with Banyule’s citizenship Framework.
4. Actively supervise children whilst maintaining a safe and secure environment.
5. Assist in the preparation and delivery of the children’s educational program by undertaking observations of the children, and contributing to the ongoing development of individual children’s records and learning journals.
6. Actively participate in the National Quality Framework; service specific Risk Analysis; and the Best Value Plus Accreditation process.
7. Participate in and support the development and implementation of centre policies and procedures as outlined in the Early Childhood Service Policies and Procedures Handbook and the Early Childhood Services Staff Handbook.
8. Work collaboratively and actively contribute to the team environment by using initiative to enhance the day to day functioning at the centre.

groups. Organizations which provide Early Childhood Services, Universities, colleges and other training facilities.
Accountability and Extent of Authority: / · Assist in the preparation and administration of the children’s educational program which caters for the social emotional, intellectual, cultural and physical development of each child in accordance with National Quality Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
· Maintain overall supervision of all children in accordance with staffing rosters, as specified in the Education and Care Services National law Act (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).
· Embrace Banyule City Council’s Workplace values and role model values in all areas of work.
· Actively support and implement the citizenship framework to empower children to contribute to decisions at the centre.
· Explore how the Children as Citizens framework can be progressed via a range of activities at the service.
Judgment and Decision Making: / · To participate in the planning, development and review of the Early Childhood Services Policies and Procedures and the staff handbook.
· To participate in continuous quality improvement processes (Banyule City Council Best Value Plus and the National Quality Framework.)
· To assist in the daily operation of the centre and to alert the centre Coordinator or Early Childhood Educator- Diploma of any pertinent issues.
· To ensure that appropriate actions are taken in an emergency or potentially dangerous situation.

Qualifications and experience: / · Successful completion of Certificate 3 or equivalent (Mandatory)
· Current, recognised Level 2 First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate, with updates completed within the last 12 months (Mandatory)
· Criminal History Check- not more than 6 months old (Mandatory)
· Working With Children Check(Mandatory)
