The Rehabilitation Counseling master’s degree option also includes the following requirements:
* Participation in a group for a minimum of 10 hours prior to CECP 6120: Counseling Practicum
**Students must present written verification of group membership with the CECP 6120: Counseling Practicum application
***25 additional hours of community “bridging” experience during CECP 6120, Counseling Practicum (including 10 hours of group leadership)
**** Weekly 2 hours CRC supervision with designated site supervisor during CECP 6130: Field Practicum.
This option is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP),and approved by the Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Graduates meet requirements for certification in both rehabilitation counseling and vision rehabilitation therapy. Graduates are also eligible to become Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) after first becoming Limited License Professional Counselors (LLPC). The LPC is granted after 3000 hours of supervised experience (by an LPC) and a passing score on the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor (CRCC) Certification Exam. The CRCC Exam is accepted as a State of Michigan Counselor License Examination.
