Use after the acute stage of severe stroke – with hemiplegia, etc. Often pts have hx of hypertension which causes bleeding in the arteries of the brain. Hemorrhages here can cause strokes, paralysis, loss of brain function, death. Sometimes requires surgery to release the pressures this can cause. Hemorrhage is not the only danger – blockage is too. Blockage may not be linked to hypertension at all. Blockage has a lower possibility of fatality than hemorrhage does.

You can start this herb after the patient stabilizes after the stroke. You would combine this with scalp acupuncture and manipulation thereof for best recovery.
