03. Updates & Business:

Art & Wine Festival – Thursday, May 23 at Firehall 6:00pm.

Followup meeting on Tuesday, May 28 at Firehall at 6:00 pm. All are welcome.

We have 29 artists now. Some are asking to be in festival.

Rotary Fair Update - Saturday, May 25, 2013 - Volunteer Schedule emailed / TSHIRTS distributed ($10 to be paid)

Upcoming Conference – Mike will attend. No new members are able to. Heather has requested that since we are not sponsoring new members, that we sponsor 4 Interact members & their driver (Lorne) to attend the Friday session, plus the meal.

Scholarship Award Ceremonies - Westshore Graduation date June 7 ; Belmont date TBA

Jim tenHove reported that we have received 21 applications from Belmont students. It is suggested that we add another $1000 to the $4000 allotted for Belmont. Will discuss at next executive meeting.

Community Awards Nominations – Doris will put together list and bring to next executive meeting.

Hugh Robertson facilitated the presentation to Interact and introduced Judy Byron.

Judy Byron installed Kaitlyn Olson as president of Belmont Interact.

INTERACT CLUB OFFICER INSTALLATION CEREMONY

To the Incoming: Charter President - Kaitlyn Olson

of the Interact Club of Belmont Secondary School, SD 62. This is an indication of the esteem and confidence that your fellow Interactors have in all of you. We believe you will uphold the high moral and ethical standards of your club, and that you will give the best of your executive ability to the furtherance of the interest of your Interact club, and the carrying forward of the Object of Rotary.

Membership in Interact is an honor and a privilege with corresponding duties and obligations, including service to your club, school, and community. You will be expected to participate in multiple levels of service, and to attend this club's meetings regularly.

With over 299,207 Interactors in over 13,009 Interact Clubs in 109 countries & geographical areas, you are members of a worldwide elite group of youth that represent the best of the youth in their respective communities, and countries.

Since you will be the charter officer of your club, you are setting the example for all of those that will follow in your footsteps.

Your school, and community, will know and judge Interact by your actions. Interact is like everything else - what you get out it will be what you put into it.

As a member of the “Family of Rotary, Interact officers, and members, are encouraged and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise:

  • The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service
  • High ethical standards in your school work, using your Interact club as opportunity to serve
  • The application of the ideal of service by every Interactor in their personal, family, school and community life
  • The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of Interactors united in the ideal of service.

I place each of you as judge of yourself by the Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self” and the Rotary Four-Way Test: Of the things you think, say or do:

First…Is it the Truth? Second…Is it fair to all concerned? Third…Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

Fourth…Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

I hereby declare Kaitlyn Olson installed as president. Please join me in welcoming her to the “Family of Rotary.”
