Dear 4-H Member,

Enclosed you will find the 2016 4-H Fairbook, which includes Divisions, Classes, Rules and Regulations for 4-H exhibits at the 2016 St. Mary’s County Fair. In addition, the forms you will need to register your 4-H projects are enclosed. This information will help you prepare your exhibits in the 4-H building and 4-H livestock entries for the fair. Pleasereview all class information carefully, and read the rules for each division and class, including livestock guidelines. This will ensure your entries comply with all requirements.

REGISTERING YOUR 4-H EXHIBITS(NON-ANIMAL)

Fill out the enclosed pre-registration form. Additional forms can be found on our website and may be copied. Keep the yellow copy and bring it with you on fair entry day. Return the white copy of your pre-registration form to the St. Mary’s County 4-H Office no later than August 31, 2016. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. We need time to pre-register the items you are planning to enter.

After each 4-H member has completed the pre-registration form and turned it into the 4-H Office, we will prepare computer-generated exhibit tags. Based on the information you enter on the pre-registration form, a tag will be generated for each exhibit you pre-registered. The pre-printed exhibit tags will be mailed to membersprior to entry day to place on exhibits before arriving at the fairgrounds. Any tags not used should be returned to the 4-H staff so we will know what exhibits were not entered. This process will help staff and judges in completingthe judging forms.

REGISTERING YOUR 4-H ANIMAL EXHIBITS

To register your animals, you will need to complete the appropriate livestock form (beef, swine, sheep, meat goat, and dairy goat), or rabbit and poultry form and return all animal registration forms to the 4-H Office no later than August 31. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Remember that on fair entry day, livestock will need to have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI). You will also need to complete and sign the animal health self-certification statement for all animals beforeyou arrive at the fairgrounds. All livestock must be individually identifiable with a 4-H tag and a premise or scrapies tag (goats can have tattoos).

ATTENTION MARKET ANIMAL EXHIBITORS

If you are entering a market/meat animal into the fair and planning to sell it at the livestock auction, you will need to complete the enclosed Livestock Feed Assurance form and bring it with you to the fairgrounds when you enter your animals. You must sign this form prior to weigh-in on entry day and certify that your animals have not been given inappropriate substances that could negatively affect the quality of their meat.
