Registering with OCT

Below is an outline for obtaining your OCT number and registering with the college. For complete steps on how to register with the Ontario College of Teachers watch their video

  • Select and print out the guide that applies to you based on the area you are looking to teach i.e. General Education, Technological Education, etc. It makes it easier to complete when the guide is used as a reference during registration.

Additional Information

  • Your application doesn’t have to be completed in one sitting, you can save your work, log out and come back to it later.
  • To log back in at any time, go to “Becoming a Teacher” on the OCT website and select resume
  • applicationon the right.
  • Providing false or misleading information can be considered professional misconduct and be grounds for rejecting your application.
  • It takes between 10-15 days to review your file. Applications from outside Ontario can take up to 30 days.
  • Any documents not in English or French will need to be translated.

FOR MT STUDENTS:

Once you begin the OCT application process you will be assigned

an OCT application number

Input your six digit OCT application number via pepper into “My Practicum Record.” Make sure to hit SAVE your OCT number in order for it to be processed. The OISE Office of the Registrar will collect all of the OCT numbers that have been input into pepper up to April 13, 2018, and will upload qualifications to the OCT for all who have successfully completed the program. We can only upload qualifications using your OCT number, and suggest you input it into pepper as soon as you begin the OCT process.
