Registering and Signing in to MyDevelopmentLab and MyVirtualChild

You are using a customized version of MyDevelopmentLab for DVC. It is very important that you follow these instructions below. DO NOT purchase MyDevelopmentLab from other sources outside of the bookstore or the link on our customized website. You will not have access to the proper materials if you do so.

To register into MyDevelopment Lab for your course, follow the instructions below:

Go to

Enter the COURSE ID for your class hartshorn94049and hit CONTINUE

Sign in to your Pearson account or click on “Create an Account” if you don’t have one. If you’re not sure, click on Forgot Your User Name or Password and if you have an account the information will be e-mailed to you.

If you need to create a NEW account, you will see the following screen. Fill out the form, place a check to accept the license agreement, then click CREATE ACCOUNT.

Click on the ACCESS CODE link to use the code that came with your textbook or choose the option to purchase with a credit card/ Paypal.

If you are entering an access code you will see a screen like the one below. Enter the code correctly and click FINISH.

You should get a confirmation screen and you are now successfully registered for your course.

If you are unable to register successfully, close out of everything and start over. Be sure to have these directions printed so you can follow them step by step.

If you are still unsuccessful, see if a friend, classmate, or family member can help you. Sometimes it just takes an extra set of eyes.

If you are still having trouble, please go to Pearson Tech Support and use their online CHAT to get help.

To log back in, go to your campus portal page and click on LOGIN

(OR you can go directly to and sign in)

Once you are in the class, you now need to register into MyVirtualChild in order to “build” and raise a Virtual Child within the course. Click on Virtual Child and follow the instructions posted there.

Your CLASS ID for MyVirtualChild is: 6643

(Must enter Virtual Child ID number – this is not optional)

Note: Step 3 is identifying your gender and your partner’s gender NOT your child’s gender; that is random as in life.

Hopefully by following these instructions, you will not have any difficulty getting into your course or into MyVirtualChild.

If you do have trouble, please make sure that you go to Pearson tech support. An INCIDENT number from support is needed before your instructor can escalate your issue or concern on for additional support. If you go to support and they are not able to help you, send the incident number that will be emailed to you to your instructor and your instructor can escalate it to a Pearson representative to get you the additional help you need.

It is highly recommended that you use the CHAT function when contacting support. Please be prepared for delays during peak registration time and plan to multitask as you wait.
