RWH £95 computers for disabled people from Microsoft Action for MattB add to website: One of our members has purchased some of these machines and they are excellent with windows 7 thrown in.
Action: Robin to see if this group can be included in the Microsoft testing. Discuss further in May meeting.
Google Meeting: Robin to set up a ‘Hackathon’/meeting at Google next year date TBA
3)Advocacy Successes with Nokia and Google
RS: Nokia launched a new screen reader for Simbian Belle phones: 3 devices 700, 701, C5 5mp (best £150). (NOKIA will carry on with Simbian at May 2016) CODE factory software is free in this case. Problem: NOKIA online store is inaccessible.
RS: Vodaphone Speak (code factory) with its model of paying extra each month Model is gone. Vodaphone Talks will come out and be free installed in store (free with contracts one off £35 top up) rolling out early next year.
RS: O2 have opened a new accessible store on Tottenham Court Road.
RS: Samsung Galaxy Nexus first Android 4 (ice cream sandwich) phone ‘Explore by touch’ development. So with Google: ‘watch this space’
Braille display Google Driver RWH will bring Braille pen to next meeting RS to look into gettingthe Google Driver.

Still on Beta testing so location and business services are not available as yet. Interesting review of SIRI usability meeting but with Low G3 access it wasn’t too successful. However the potential is obvious.

MR: IOS 5 updates new Braille support, new History mode to review messages etc. Waiting for Apple to support new Humanware products. Web access excellent, notification centre works well with speech. (ON 4s it will tell you about the picture you are taking‘there are two faces’ etc).

MT BCAB Successful recent delivery of technology taster sessions. Handyandroid day a study sharing and experience day was good report in newsletter. Apple days have been good and will be repeated. End of Feb running a weekend re Mobiles and technology.
JP Will be digital media development officer at RNIB by next meeting.
SENSE will look into John’s position of Technology officer and they will decide whether to keep the position. Members day was very successful so room for Sense to move on.

RS requested a demo of this at a future meeting.
RWTalking tags on the backburner. Guide dogs upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 2010. (RS offered to contact VisionAustralia ((Cassandra Highfield) as they have just done same upgrade RHW mentioned serotek (Rim) as useful virtual desktop )
MBBritish airways disability users meeting BA said they will be introducing audio description on long haul flights.

Questionnaire on ipadio re European Guide Dogs will be coming out soon.
MR: Human ware now manufacturing their own Braille displays which is significantly reducing price (£1800 approx) and making good products. New CCTV coming out new tech ‘progressive imaging’ to remove flicker and blurring (around £1200) added PDF support to products and a GPS system will shortly be given postcode search systems
RS: Phone watch now a monthly event at the O2 store on Tottenham court road looking at all smartphones and apps. Dates on RNIB website but it fills up quickly so worth registering but may be a queue.
Switch on the technology Month just finished saw 400people in that month
