Regional Progress Network Chair Role Description

ACE

ACE is a business association that promotes the interests of over 450 UK consultancy and engineering companies delivering professional services to the natural and built environment. ACE’s purpose is to share and strengthen industry knowledge, inform policy and provide a united voice for the UK trade and industry.

Progress network

ACE Progress Network is a thriving and active groupset up by a collective of early career professionals (less than 15 years’ experience) within the consultancy andengineering sector acrossthe United Kingdom. The Network currently has nearly 2,000 members registered across different regions of UK and Middle East and is sponsored by Mott MacDonald. Membership of Progress Network is free and open to all emerging professionals, working in the built and natural environment. Membership is open to non-ACE members, particularly clients and public bodies. Some groups collaborate with a local leading university affording the opportunity for its students to connect with working professionals.

Each region is run by a management team (committee) ofup to ten professionals supported by ACE staff. The purpose of committeecan include the following:

  • Assisting with the planning, development and implementation of initiatives to benefit early career professionals working within the built and natural environment.
  • organising regular industry relevant events such as but not limited to; presentations, panel discussion or debates.
  • promotingand enhancingtransferrable business skills in early career professionals through workshops and networking.
  • reviewing and providing opinions on changes to national and regional policy and regulations.
  • acting as an ambassador for early career professionals across the region.
  • writing blogs/articles for social media and Infrastructure Intelligence.
  • liaising and supporting the wider national Progress Network.
  • reporting to the UK Progress Network Chair and Deputy UK Progress Network Chair about regional committee progress on a regular basis. (Minimum. every two weeks).
  • Researching the region to develop a regional baseline report which will feed into the regional and national Progress Network Strategic Plan.
  • implementingthe strategic plan to develop business skills, enhance networking and promote the industry to early-career consultants and engineers.
  • opening and maintaining a dialogue with key stakeholders or groupings, across regions, nations and the world shaping the future of the industry
  • ensuring that early-career professionals from ACE member and non-member firms have a voice and are able and willing to input to ACE activities influencing the future development and retention of the best talent in the industry

The current Progress Network consists of the following committees: London & South East, Midlands, East of England, North West and North. ACE is recruiting roles to grow and establish the following networks: South West, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

South West- areas surrounding and including: Bristol, Bath, Plymouth and Exeter

Wales: - areas surrounding and including: Cardiff

Scotland- areas surrounding and including: Edinburgh and Glasgow

Northern Ireland- - areas surrounding and including: Belfast

Committee Chair

Any chair within the ACE Progress Network must belong to a members organization.

Responsibilities of Regional Progress Network Chair may include the following:

  • Facilitate to re-establish Regional Progress Network committee.
  • Provide leadership to select members for regional committee roles.
  • Chair meetings.
  • Report to UK Chair and Deputy UK Chair.
  • Liaise with other committee members, industry stakeholders and experts.
  • Promoteequality, diversity and inclusion standards.
  • Produce Regional Progress Network Annual Plan with input from committee.
  • Provide ad-hoc input to the nationwide Progress Network Annual Plan.
  • Supporting and leading committee members, including succession planning.
  • Attend training events for the role.
