Finance & Business Sector:

ROP Entrepreneurship (#5052): 180 Grade Levels 9- 12 This course introduces students to the concept of successfully owning and operating their own business. The course emphasizes the basic elements of entrepreneurship and includes topics such as developing a business plan, obtaining technical assistance, designing marketing strategies, financing the business, earning government regulations, legal issues, maintaining business records, promoting/advertising the business, and managing human resources. The curriculum is designed to help the student explore entrepreneurship as a career path worthy of consideration and provide them with a realistic framework for starting a new business.

Fashion and Interior Sector:

ROP Fashion Design- Beginning (#6124): 180 Grade Levels 9-12
This course is designedto teach students the elements of the fashion industry. Students will learn the basic knowledge of color, illustration, design, textiles, sewing, marketing and promotion. Instruction includes fashion history, presentation skills, garment creation, retails procedure and “Green Concepts. Students completing the course will participate in an annual fashion show.

ROP Fashion Design- Advanced (A-G)(6125) 180Grade Levels 10-12

This course provides students with an expanded introduction to the fashion industry. Content in includes the garment design and creation process, as well as how apparel wholesale and retail markets function. The specifics of clothing design include sizing patterns, understanding colors and fabrics, and sketching and developing the fashion figure (Cro qui drawings). Industry-wide tropics include fashion terminology, fashion trends, fashion forecasting, and the production and marketing of the fashion product. Student each create a portfolio for the class that includes sketching techniques, clothing construction samples, industry research, garment development, logo development and a final clothing line. The culminating even of the course is a student- produced fashion show. **Prerequisite must take beginning Fashion Design first.

ROP Interior Design (#6122): 180 Grade Levels 9-12

This course is designed to teach the student the elements of design and use of color, fabrics and textures to create an impact in the interior of various buildings. Instruction includes the history of interior design, design theory, and project presentations. Students will learn to determine the scope of a project, develop and present a proposal, and implement a project. Students will use architectural drawings to produce their visions of an interior. Communication skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ethics are addressed. Language arts and math are reinforced throughout the course.

Arts. Media and Entertainment Sector:

ROP Television and Video Digital Media Production (#6068): 180 Grade Levels 9-12

This course provides students with the educational background and practical experience necessary for entry-level positions in a variety of positions in television production, television broadcasting, film production and video production. The course includes the use and purpose of common equipment found in the field. Instruction and practical equipment experience will cover single and multiple camera production, video production, imaging, sound and scripting. The instruction and skill development will also provide students with a solid foundation for continued post-secondary training.

ROP Art of Video Production –Advanced (A-G) (#6078) 180 Grade Levels 11-12

This course covers history and development of the cinema, documentaries, and other new media and film

technologies. Students learn skills and practice in various aspects of production by applying the elements of art, principals of design, and integration of technology for effective visual communication of their ideas, feelings and values. Students develop skills, including camera operation, framing and composition, manipulation of space and time, idea development and communication, the mechanics of psychology of editing, script writing or text creation, light and sound, and impact. Students learn the historical and contemporary foundations of thesemedia and participate in critiques. Students also explore the broad range of career pathways available in the industry.

** Prerequisite must take TV/Video Production first.

ROP Graphics Communication (#6081): 180 Grade Levels 9-12

This course will provide students with the skills to obtain entry-level employment in the graphics prepress industry. Students will develop illustration and production layout skills using design, type, color and assorted graphic design tools. Students will produce artwork suitable for use in digital media and print media publications. Students will also achieve visual problem solving skills.

Health Science and Medical Technology Sector:

ROP Emergency Medical Responder (#5051): 180 Grade Levels 10-12
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to take appropriate action as the first responder to an emergency scene. This course provides instruction in systems and structures of surface anatomy and key principles of physiology. The basic functions of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and the respiratory system are presented. Students will perform an assessment of a patient’s vital functions. Certified First Responder is required skill for entry-level fire fighter positions. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a National Safety Council First Responder Card and American Heart Association Card, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for the Professional. Course will include Medical Terminology.

ROP Medical Core 1 (#9080): 180 Grade Levels 1112

This course is designed to give students basic medical assisting practices with a clinical emphasis. Students will learn to identify, spell, pronounce and define root words, prefixes and suffixes common in medical careers. Students will also be able to use common abbreviations and appropriate reference materials. Students will be trained in front and back office procedures.

Health Science and Medical Technology Sector-continued:

ROP Personal Fitness Trainer (#9540):180 Grade Levels 10-12

This class is designed to prepare students with entry-level employment skills in the areas of fitness and exercise, physical therapy, and athletic training. Instruction will include basic anatomy and physiology, vital signs, first aid, CPR, and nutrition for fitness and sports. Specific topics such as training room management, theory, and application of exercise (isometric, isotonic, isokinetic), injury prevention, and rehabilitative exercises are also taught.

ROP Sports Medicine 1-Beginning (5275): 180 Grade Levels 10-12

This course is designed to help students develop a general awareness of health careers and specific preparation for athletic trainer, physical therapy and sports medicine occupations. Classroom instruction covers such topics as; basic communications; personal wellness and occupational injury and illness prevention; Standard precautions, principals of fitness; medical terminology and anatomy; emergency assessment; basic soft tissue and bone injuries; and management of injuries. In addition to this ongoing classroom instruction, students will have the opportunity to build experience and knowledge with actual application of methods taught as well as developing professional communications skills. Throughout this course the students’ core academic skills and knowledge will be reinforced.

ROP Sports Medicine 2 -Advanced (5279): 180 Grade Levels 11-12

This course presents the full scope of Athletic Trainer Aide duties. Students acquire fundamental practical concepts of training room development; risk management; administrative and legal issues; and prevention of athletic injuries. Further knowledge and skills related to body conditioning, nutrition use of protective equipment, and awareness of environmental issues are incorporated. On-the-field and off-the-field assessment prevention and treatment of acute and non-acute injuries following standard precautions build student’s experience during practical applications.

**Prerequisite must take Sports Med 1 first.
