This development plan has been designed to cover both the administrative and curricular aspects of ICT in school.
The plan will enable the school to set specific targets aimed at improving the main areas of ICT in school. These are:
- etc.
The development plan has 2 key areas:
1) The contextualisation of the plan, which personalises the targets to specific schools.
2) A set of action plans and audits which will need the attention of both ICT co-ordinators and senior managers to give a clear vision of the continued development of ICT in all areas of the school.
Background
The previous ICT Development Plan helped the school to move forward in a variety of ways, such as:
§ increasing the number of PCs with internet access
§ replacing or upgrading a number of older PCs
§ developing curriculum software available with the help of the Curriculum ICT Centre.
This plan seeks to build on last year's and to begin to address the ICT across the whole school.
Overall Aims and Objectives
This development plan will cover the next two years, with an internal school review after one year.
The review will be based on an evaluation of the work planned and could involve an annotation of the plan and the addition of any new or amended actions that where necessary be supported by the Curriculum Centre or ICT Unit.

NETWORK PLAN
We recommend that you maintain a simple diagram of your school network. It will provide a useful focus for future planning.
- Start with a simple floor plan and overlay it with the cable runs from your hub or switch to the PCs, laptops and printers. Tip: Your cabling contractor should be able to provide you with this information.
- On top of this, indicate the location of your fileserver, PCs, laptops and wireless access points. You don't have to locate every single device, something like "ICT Suite: 15 x PCs" will be suitable.
- You may also want to indicate telephone extension points, ISDN line location etc.
Financial Plan (example)
The school has looked to the following sources of funding in order to sustain the ICT Development Plan:
1. DoE funding;
2. school budget;
3. IMS Standards Fund Grant;
4. direct grant revenue funding;
5. other elements of the Standards Fund;
6. administrative support for small schools;
7. exchange scheme within the ICT Unit.
