REGION 7 WORKS COUNCIL

APRIL 23, 2014

MINUTES

MEMBERS PRESENT: Doug Dillion, Lisa Pepperworth, LeaAnne Crooks, Heather Baker,

June Pickens, Danny Tanoos, Ronan Miot, Andrew Hendricks, Tom Slater and Shelley Edmonson

OTHERS PRESENT: Dana Carter, Greg Tucker, Lisa Lee, Mike Smith, Craig Newby, Lora Busch

and Bill Dory

I.CALL TO ORDER AND WELCOME

Mr. Doug Dillion called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

II.ROLL CALL

All in attendance introduced themselves and their affiliation.

III.DISCUSSION MEETING TIME

A discussion ensued changing the meeting time to the evening since several meetings have not met quorum. Members would like to maintain the current time, but, if notice of meeting is sent far out in advance then possibly an evening meeting could occur.

IV.APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Members reviewed the November 14, 2013, December 10, 2013, and January 23, 2014 minutes. Heather Baker made a motion to accept minutes as presented and LeaAnne Crooks seconded. Motion carried. Minutes approved as written.

V.REGION 8 WORKS COUNCIL

Doug Dillion attended the Region 8 Works Council meeting.

VI.WABASH VALLEY HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATION PRESENTATION AND FEEDBACK

Doug Dillion spoke at the Wabash Valley Human Resources Association.

VII.WIN SOFTWARE – EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

Doug Dillion distributed a handout regarding the WIN software.

VIII. DRAFT OF SECOND REPORT

All in attendance broke out into small groups to discuss the second report and the 8 critical questions.

IX.CAREER COUNCIL 8 CRITICAL QUESTIONS

All in attendance broke out into small groups to discuss the second report and the 8 critical questions. Doug Dillion will email revised second report to members for review. Electronic draft approved with modifications. Motion made by June Pickens and seconded by Andy Hendricks.

X.GRANT APPLICATION

  • Revised due date is May 15, 2014.
  • There was significant discussion over preparing one (1) regional grant or multiple applications and after guidance from the State, it was decided a vote was needed to submit multiple applications.
  • Doug Dillion asked to abstain from voting related to this grant as he will represent CTED 35 in submitting an application.
  • Danny Tanoos, Superintendent, asked to abstain from voting as he is the Superintendent of the Vigo County School Corporation.
  • Works Council needs to approve applications prior to submission to the State.

XI.OTHER

Doug Dillion invited all Works Council members to the CTE Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for February 26, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.

Meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon. Motion made by Heather Baker and seconded by Tom Slater.
