Referral Taker Volunteer

Swan Advocacy believes that volunteers play a vital and invaluable role within the infrastructure of the organisation. Furthermore the involvement of volunteers is seen as integral to the success of the organisation. Swan advocacy believes that by working with volunteers it promotes and maintains close links with the community it seeks to serve. Volunteers are viewed as valuable asset who bring a wide range of experiences and skills to Swan Advocacy. In return, Swan Advocacy seeks to give volunteers a rewarding role and will provide the appropriate training and support to ensure this is possible.

Role Title / Volunteer Referral Admin
Location / Taunton
Responsible to / Lead Referral Taker
Purpose/summary of role / To assist the referral team with incoming calls and enquiries along with taking of referrals as necessary
Description of tasks /
  • Provide the first point of contact for general telephone enquiries and visitors to the office.
  • As required receive and record referrals by telephone, email or post.
  • Signpost inappropriate referrals to relevant agencies where appropriate.
  • Receive and communicate client related messages to advocates and ensure these are recorded on specialist database.
  • Undertake client related administration, scanning and adding documents to the database, and other tasks as directed by the Lead Referral Taker
  • Provide other administrative support as directed by the Lead Referral Taker

Time commitment / Minimum 4 hours weekly but to be agreed
Skills and Qualifications / Computer literate.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, e-mails and databases.
Good communication skills.
Be able to use own initiative but know when to ask for help.

Reimbursement of expenses / Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
