Along with the California Council of Community Mental Health Agencies, Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council, Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas, New York State Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare,Substance Use and Mental Health Leadership Council of Rhode Island, and Tennessee Association of Mental Health Organizations, the National Council for Behavioral Health is excited to invite you to join us for the 2nd annual SBIRT Summit meetings for the Reducing Adolescent Substance Abuse Initiative (RASAI) learning community.

SUMMIT PURPOSE

During the 2015 SBIRT Summits, RASAI sites, National Council staff, State Leads, and other involved parties will convene to discuss all things SBIRT sustainability and scalability. During these meetings, we will discuss lessons learned from Year 1, hear state-specific policy updates, converse on using data to inform practice, and provide specialized breakout trainings on topics such as SBIRT supervision techniques and developing SBIRT clinical protocols. We want to provide you and your teams with all of the information and resources needed to ensure the sustainability of SBIRT in your agency moving forward!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

All Core Team members from each RASAI site should plan to attend their state’s SBIRT Summit. Core Teams include the Project Lead, Data Lead, Clinical Lead, CEO and/or COO, and SBIRT Clinicians. In addition, up to five (5) clinicians (per site) who are new to the SBIRT team, and up to five (5) supervisors (per site) may attend. Each RASAI site should not exceed a total of 15 summit attendees.

HOW TO REGISTER

Attendance at the SBIRT Summits is free, but pre-registration is REQUIRED. Please complete the online registration form at:

**Important Note to Project Leads: As Project Lead, you are responsible for sending the registration link to your fellow core team members, 5 clinicians, and 5 supervisors.

All individuals who will be attending one of the SBIRT Summits must register in advance, in order to ensure accurate records. Please register by the following dates:

  • For the Kansas SBIRT Summit on September 15, register by Friday, September 4.
  • For the New York SBIRT Summit on October 9, register by Friday, September 25.
  • For the California SBIRT Summit on October 19, register by Friday, October 2.
  • For the Colorado SBIRT Summit on October 29, register by Thursday, October 15.
  • For the Rhode Island SBIRT Summit on November 3, register by Monday, October 19.
  • For the Tennessee SBIRT Summit on November 12, register by Monday, October 26.

AGENDA

The SBIRT Summit will begin at 9:00am (local time) on the scheduled day of the meeting, and will adjourn by 4:30pm (local time) on the same day. An official version of the finalized agenda will be sent out to all attendees at least two weeks prior to each summit.

HOW TO PREPARE

There is nothing formal that you need to do to prepare for the SBIRT Summits. We do encourage you to review your site’s most recent data dashboard prior to the meeting, as we will be discussing these during the summit. We also encourage you to bring your ideas about year 2 of the learning community, including ideas on sustainability and scalability of SBIRT in your agency, and training and technical assistance. We want the summits to be interactive, so you will play a vital role in our discussions throughout the day!

MEALS

Continental breakfast will be provided beginning at 8:30am in the meeting room, and is open to any and all meeting attendees. Casual lunch will also be provided from 12:00-1:00pm (local time) to all meeting attendees. Should you have dietary restrictions, please include them on your registration form. Coffee and water will also be available throughout the day.

LODGING

Should attendees need hotel reservations for the night(s) before or after the SBIRT Summit, these reservations are the responsibility of the meeting attendee. Each of the SBIRT Summits is taking place at a hotel, so attendees are welcome to book sleeping room(s) at the same or a nearby property.

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

All attendees are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the SBIRT Summit meeting. Each of the meeting properties have on-site or nearby parking options for those driving to the meeting.

DRESS CODE

Dress code is business casual. We encourage you to bring a sweater for cooler meeting rooms.
