RED HOUSE RUN ELEMENTARY

Attendance: Melanie Holston, Kristi Bock, Pam Cuneo, Dana Neill, Bruce Neill, Michael Saffran Sr., April Coccagna-Graham, James Grap, Kevin Jones Sr., Dionne Jones, Cassandra Vandevander, Yvonne Hay, and Jennifer Austin.
The meeting was called to order at 6:47 PM. The Pledge was recited. Introductions were made.
Corrections to the minutes: Michael Saffran stated the new Bylaws are going to be reviewed and voted upon at our meeting on March 15th. The minutes were approved with this correction.
President’s Report: Please refer to document on website
Vice President’s Report: Maryland PTA is partnering with Comcast to help low-income families to help with lowered or free lunches as well as a reduced internet rate which could be $9.95 per month. The reduced internet is only for essentials and education purposes only; Bylaws need to be resubmitted by April; In need of a nominating committee with a minimum of three people and to assist with gathering people that are possibly interested in being a PTA officer.
Treasurer’s Report: As of February 15th the balance on the account is $8632.55. There is still $100 gift certificates from teachers that haven’t been used. Sending out fliers as a reminder to use it; Literary Assembly: Used extra income from the author visit for snacks and activities.
School Staff Report
Principal Report: MSA Pep-rally on February 24th
Active Committee Reports
Membership: No changes, all contests have ended
Box Tops: No updates; The winter campaign ends on February 29th and the spring campaign starts mid march; Training on boxtops in the near future.
Family Fun Night: A successful night at CiCi Pizza restaurant from January 23-28th, RHR PTA earned $272.46; On February 29th from 5-9 PM another restaurant night will happen at Chick-fil-A in Nottingham, will have fliers, stickers, and homework passes prepared and distributed and also will have the Chick-fil-A cow during dismissal on the day of the event.
Basket Bingo: Linda DeJong will be getting back to us about the baskets, permit has been mailed, we are still awaiting the gaming permit as well as the contract.
Newsletter: Sandy will have newsletters to PTA officers by Tuesday of next week.
New Business
a)5th Grade Activity: On February 27th the candy fundraiser will start which will cover graduation, scholarships, T-shirts, yearbooks, and fieldtrips, there is a representative coming to present to get the students motivated for event.
b)Hoops 4 Heart: February 23rd will be the date of this event, and this event will help raise money for the American Heart Society, the minimum to participate is $1 and this event will run from 8:45 AM to 11 AM.
c)Movie Night: This event was supposed to be on March 26th as it is on the PTA calendar, however, during the approval of the flier process it was better to change the date to March 28th due to MSA.
