Operative (nine posts)
There are currently sevenfull-time,temporary posts in the following two job designations:
Recycling Operative – two posts
Cleansing Operative – seven posts
Although there are currently no Priority Waste Operative vacancies, we intend to create a reserve list of successful candidates which will last for 18 months, or until it is exhausted, whichever is sooner, during which time similar posts may become available for any of the job designations listed below.

If candidates accept a post as Recycling Operative, Cleansing Operative or Priority Waste Operative, we will not consider them for other Recycling Operative, Cleansing Operative or Priority Waste Operative positions, regardless of preferred hours of duty or preferred location.
Please note: If you are placed on the reserve list, you will only be offered vacant posts on the basis of the information you have provided above, for example, if you have ticked that you are applying for a Recycling Operative position only and Cleansing Operative position becomes available, we will not offer you this Cleansing Operative position.
Operative (nine posts)
Although there are currently ninetemporary, full-time vacancies, we intend to create a register of successful applicants, in strict order of merit based on performance at interview. Should a similar post become vacant within this time, we may offer it to those on the reserve list, in order of merit, without further interview. We anticipate that this list will last for 18 months, or until it is exhausted, whichever is sooner.
These posts will be on temporary basis and may be working full-time, part-time or job share hours.

Candidates may apply for all positions and, if appointed to the reserve list, will be considered for full-time, part-time and job share vacancies.
Candidates who have applied for both part-time or job share and full-time positions may accept a part-time or job share position without forfeiting their right to be considered for a full-time position; similarly, they may accept an offer of full-time employment without forfeiting their right to be considered for a part-time or job share position.
If candidates accept an offer of part-time or job share employment, we will not consider them for other part-time or job share positions, regardless of preferred hours of duty or preferred location. Similarly, if candidates accept an offer of full-time employment, we will not consider them for other full-time positions regardless of preferred location.
Candidates who accept an offer of temporary employment on a full-time basis, will not be considered for other temporary posts on a full-time basis but they may be considered for other temporary posts which are on a part-time or job share basis; and vice-versa.

A reserve list of successful candidates may be drawn up to last for a maximum of 18 months during which time similar posts may become available in any of the locations detailed below.
For Recycling Operative and Priority Waste Operative positions:
The person appointed will be based initially in Duncrue Complex, Duncrue Industrial Estate for the purposes of reporting to work, but will be required to work in all areas of the city according to the operational requirements of the Cleansing Services Section.
For Cleansing Operative positions:
The person appointed will be based initially in the cleansing district in which he or she is prepared to work (as indicated below) but will be required to work in and visit other locations. In the boxes provided, please number, in order of preference (that is, number one being your first choice and number two being your second choice), the location(s) in which you would like to work. Please note choice of location will be offered to candidates in order of merit based on performance at interview. Whilst the council will endeavour to place successful candidates in their preferred location, we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.

You must complete the application form in either typescript (Arial font size 11) or legible hand-writing using black ink.
