JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POST OF: MENTORING COORDINATOR - £22,696 35 hrs a week
Main purpose of the Job: To develop and coordinate a Mentoring Project for care leavers in Cheshire East (initially in Macclesfield)
Development of Service
With the support and guidance of Pure Insight’s Operations manager you will support Pure Insight to replicate its successful mentoring service into Cheshire East by; developing and maintaining strategic links and partnerships with local organisations that have common objective around working with care leavers in Cheshire East, developing flexible referral pathways and seeking opportunities for hot-desking and utilising shared space in partner organisations. You will also be prepared to work remotely in the community and from home.
Mentoring – Mentors
  1. Recruit, train and supervise Mentors on Pure Insight’s Mentoring project
  2. Identify and organise refresher and specific training needed for Mentors on an ongoing basis
  3. Provide monthly 1:1 and 6 weekly group supervision sessions
  4. Provide intensive support for the first 8 weeks of a new Mentoring Relationship
  5. Provide ad hoc telephone/social media support to all Mentors including in the evenings and at weekends especially at crisis points
  6. Organise with the Insight team additional cover if needed
  7. Participate in a review and evaluation of the project at 6 month, 1 year and 2 year period.
Mentoring – Mentees
  1. Identify 2-3 local young people to take ‘champion’ roles on within the project and sit on the project steering group.
  2. Recruit, assess and match suitable young people for the project
  3. Develop and maintain a relationship with young people on the project to stay abreast of any issues and be able to provide appropriate advice and guidance to mentors
  4. Provide opportunity for young people to give feedback about the project at 6 weeks then every 3 months via the most appropriate channel/person
Administration
  1. Ensure a record of personal progress is kept by assessing the young person using tools available such as ‘where I am at Quiz and the Mentoring Progress star at the beginning of the programme and at 6 monthly intervals (using creative methods if the young person does not want to engage with the process)
  2. Ensure accurate records are kept by volunteer Mentors
  3. Ensure expenses are submitted and recorded monthly for funding/reporting purposes
  4. Ensure all Mentees and Mentors are entered onto master databases and information kept live
  5. Produce a monthly report to track progress across the programme
Additional duties
  1. Promote the Mentoring project through networking, press releases and social media
  2. To participate in planned supervision/performance and monitoring sessions
  3. To attend appropriate in house and/or external training and development sessions / days
  4. To comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures
  5. To adopt a flexible approach to the hours worked in accordance to the needs of the organisation
  6. To carry out such other duties as the Founder of Pure Insight may have from time to time
