1Old Business –

Basketball participant numbers

  • 2 3/4 boys teams, 1 ¾ girls team, 1 5/6 boys team, 1 5/6 girls team
  • K-2=37 total participants
  • Grades ¾ up=63 participants

2. New Business

Fishing Derby Saturday Feb 17, 2018

  • 8 am-noon
  • Let Coe-Brown know for volunteers
  • We provide fishing traps and bait
  • Lunch/prizes after in the Congregational Church
  • Encouraging online signups.

League Coordinator

  • Brandon Yeo gave his resignation but said he would finish out the basketball season, which has been extended one extra week.
  • Will advertise for the position. They will start in July.

Playground Grant

  • Matt Frye is working with Sandy Garret on the grant
  • We’re passing on this round but would like to be ready for round 30 in June.
  • We need to prepare a site plan for the grant. The pieces we intend to purchase, the cost of the site work and installation.
  • Asking for a total of $130,000 in the grant.

Scarecrow Fundraiser

  • For Fall of 2018
  • Poles and burlap head provided. Sharon brought in examples for us.
  • They are put out October 1st and taken down 5 days after Halloween
  • We can sell a map or hand out a map.

3. Misc

  • Selectmen DJ Hodgdon was in attendance tonight. Mentioned Heather Hiegis has an old building on her property that she may be willing to donate to the town for a snack shack so we should get in contact with her.
  • Mr. Hodgdon said the pond on Bow Lake Road was discovered to be town property. It might be worth considering that as a location for ice skating in the future since the ice rink the town has now.
  • There is a question about whether $5,000 for baseball dirt can come out of the facilities budget. Sharon will look into finding out if it’s a specific line item in the budget. Sandy Garrett said no.
  • Sledding party put on by the town proposed for February 10th at the Rt 4 fields. Snow sculptures/snowman contest, ice skating, sledding, bonfire. Will advertise on social media and SV sun.

  • Discuss adding more programming for summer. Adult/seniors trip?
  • We need to get permission from the state to add more sand to the beaches. Initiate that process
  • Finalize the Fishing Derby
  • Discuss doing an Easter Bunny around town similar the the Elf at xmas. Who will pay for it?
