NYSWMA Minutes
Meeting of 9-11-10
The regular meeting of the NYSWMA was held 9-11-10 at the Ling Ling Restaurant in North Syracuse. Attending were Cody Baciuska, President, Dale Stockton, Vice President, Bob Meakin, Treasurer, Dan Ebel, Director, Berton Mead, Secretary, and Rich Palmer and Price Morris, members.
The minutes of the August meeting and the Treasurers report were read and accepted.
Old business.
It was suggested that the newsletter be sent in a format that is readable by all members, including those who have old computers., either PDF or Word 97/2000 format.
It was noted that some non-members were using the NYSWMA logo on their website. Cody is to contact them by e-mail and ask them to remove the logo or join the organization.
Bob has contacted the Oneida Lake Association and offered our assistance in their Cormorant control project. He has received no response.
The 2011 Seminar.
The major part of the meeting was associated with planning the 2011 Seminar that will be titled “North East Wildlife Seminar”.
Possible presentations include “ The endangered species act, do’s and don’ts and the Relationship Between NWCO’s and Wildlife Rehabbers”, “Chipmunks and Rabbits”, “Rat Control Without Poisons”, “Nuisance Wildlife Control and the Role of Private Enterprise”, “Accounting for NWCO’s”, “New Equipment and Materials”, “Sparrows and Starlings”, “Update on White Nose Syndrome in Bats”, A number of other topics are also being explored.
Letters will be sent soon to businesses asking if they would like to be vendor, be a sponsor of the Seminar and/or requesting donations for the raffle. Ideas were presented to make the Seminar more attractive to vendors.
Special Seminar invitations will be sent to Lou Berchielli, Paul Curtis and Lynn Braband.
Greg Spiess, has agreed to prepare the handouts as he did last year.
The fee for the 2011 Seminar (for all) will be $100.00 for on time registration and $150.00 for late registration or at the door.
There may be an early bird session the evening before the Seminar.
Membership Meeting and Elections.
There will be a meeting of the membership to elect officers and Directors for 2011-2013 following the Seminar. Bert Mead is to prepare an e-mail or an attachment to the News Letter asking for nominations for Officers and Directors. They are to be returned to him so that a ballot can be prepared for presentation at the Membership meeting.

Late breaking seminar news; Rick Shadel has agreed to do a four hour hands on break demonstration on Friday afternoon prior to the seminar for members only.
Jim Pace from Christian Baker will also attend as a vendor.
