_____ Start logging shipments by Investigator and shipping institution (Use attached form)

Place Fenbendazole feed in all shipment cages, (NOT sentinel cages)

_____ The business office will order sentinels before rack closes. (4-5 weeks of age): 1 cage (2 mice) per shipment. Inform the business office if you have more than 6 Investigators.

_____ Close Quarantine rack

_____ Place Fenbendazole feed in all shipment cages, (NOT sentinel cages)

_____ Make sure every shipment has sentinels; begin dirty bedding placement in sentinel cages

_____ Treat only shipment cages, (NOT sentinel cages) with (1st dose) of a 1% solution of Ivermectin, (See dilutions, prepare fresh batch at every start) If for any reason there are pups, treat adult mice ONLY between the shoulder blades with 3uls of Moxidectin. DO NOT TREAT PUPS OR NUDE MICE!

_____ Email Rodent Health Team to give start date and list of the PI’s in the room

_____ Continue dirty bedding placement in sentinel cages

_____ Place Fenbendazole feed in all shipment cages, (NOT sentinel cages)

_____ Collect from colony mice only - fecal by PCR and body swab by PCR. Pool up to 10 samples and submit to rodent team.

Week 3 ______

_____ Continue dirty bedding placement in sentinel cages

_____ Place Fenbendazole feed in all shipment cages, (NOT sentinel cages)

_____ Treat only colony animals, (NOT sentinel cages) with (2nd dose) of a 1% solution of Ivermectin, (See dilutions, prepare fresh batch at every start) If for any reason there are pups, treat adult mice ONLY between the shoulder blades with 3uls of Moxidectin. DO NOT TREAT PUPS OR NUDE MICE!

Week 4 ______

_____ Continue dirty bedding placement in sentinel cages

_____ Place Fenbendazole feed in all shipment cages, (NOT sentinel cages)

_____ Rodent Team to perform 1st Sentinel Bleed, this will be the final bleed

IVERMECTIN FOR RODENT TREATMENT SPRAY:

  1. This comes in a 5% Ivermectin bottle and must be diluted to a 1.0% solution
  2. 200 ml 5% Ivermectin + 800 ml water

MOXIDECTIN TREATMENT FOR CAGES WITH PUPS

1. Do not treat any cages with pups under the age of 3 weeks.

2. Treat adults in these cages with topical Moxidectin - 3ul.
