Recommended Revisions to Student Achievement Points

Current Point Criteria / Revised Point Criteria
Basic skills gains / Points for significant gains on CASAS tests,
Significant gains in HS credits HS21+), and completion of GED or HS diploma / Points awarded for federal level gains on CASAS tests,
HS21+ credits (to be determined),
And completion of GED or HS diploma
Basic skills transitions / -new point category- / Point for current or prior basic skills student completing first six college level credits.
Pre-college math and English / Points for completing pre-college sequence and an extra point if college math or English completed within a year after participating in pre-college / -no points for completing sequence-
Point if college math or English completed within a year after participating in any pre-college course
Earn first 15 college credits / Point for completing first 15 college level credits / Point for completing first 15 college level credits
Students who are a member of one or more of the following groups receive a bonus point:
  • Basic skills
  • Low income
  • Historically underrepresented student of color (American Indian, Black/African American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander)
The bonus point is duplicated if a student is a member of more than one group.
Earn first 30 college credits / Point for completing first 30 college level credits / -no change-
Earn first 45 workforce or transfer credits / Point for completing first 45 college level credits with at least 30 vocational credits (workforce) or credits from: Math, English, Humanities, Social Science and Science (transfer) / -no change-
College level Math (Quant) / Point for completing five credits of college level math / -no change-
College level English / -new point category- / Point for completing English 101 or other required communication course for program (English course level listing)

Completion / Student awarded point for completing a degree, apprenticeship, or certificate with at least 20 vocational credits / Student awarded point for completing a degree, apprenticeship, or certificate with at least 20 vocational credits

  • Basic skills
  • Low income
  • Historically underrepresented student of color (American Indian, Black/African American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander)

Retention point / Extra point awarded for every student who received a point this school year that was also enrolled in the prior year / -no change-
