Baptisms: Last Saturday, 19th May 2012, in St. Brendan’s Church, Clogher, we welcomed Baby Aisling Rose O’ Keeffe, daughter of Brendan and Majella O’ Keeffe (née Hussey), living in Gortatlea, and Baby Oscar Jason Lynch, son of Gerard and Leona Lunch (née O’ Meara), also living in Gortatlea, into our parish community. As we congratulate the parents we ask the Lord to continue to bless them and their babies and Aisling’s older siblings, Kate and Ben, and Oscar’s older siblings, Caragh, Alanna and Ruby, in every possible way, both now and in the future. It was a particularly special day last Saturday for these two families as earlier that day Aisling’s older sister, Kate, and Oscar’s older sister, Alanna, received their First Holy Communion. No doubt, it is a day that they will remember forever !

On Sunday, 20th May 2012, in St. Brendan’s Church, Clogher, we also celebrated the baptism of Baby Conor Willam Browne, son of Thomas and Tina Browne (née O’ Cnnor), living in Clonough, Castleisland. As we congratulate Tina and Thomas, we also ask the Lord to continue to bless them and Baby Conor and his older sister, Emma, in every possible way, both now and in the future.

First Holy Communion : We congratulate the 60 girls and boys who received their First

Holy Communion in our parish earlier this month. We ask the Lord to continue to bless them and their families and teachers in every possible way, both now and in the future. The next Mass in the “Do This In Memory” programme will be the Vigil Mass (8.00p.m.) on Saturday, 9th June 2012, in St. Brendan’s Church Clogher. A meeting of the Parent’s’ Coordinating Group will take place in the Presbytery on Tuesday, 5th June 2012, at 8.15p.m..

Eucharistic Procession: The Eucharistic Procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi will take place after the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening, 9th June 2012. This Mass will be the final Mass of this year’s “Do This In Memory” programme. The Procession will go from St. Brendan’s Church, Clogher, to Clogher Cemetery as in previous years.

Amnesty International : A unique event to mark the end of Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary year and to support global calls for an effective Arms Trade Treaty will take place in various churches and places of worship of all faiths across the country this coming Monday, 28th May 2012, when at 3.00pm church bells will ring for ten minutes to sound the chimes for freedom across Ireland. The event will be marked in our parish with the ringing of the bell in St. Brendan’s Church, Clogher, that afternoon.

Teen Awakening celebrating the “real me” : A Youth Hour will take place in Castleisland Parish Church on Thursday, 31st May 2012, at 8.00pm for all young people from the parishes of Killeentiarna, Ballymacelligott, Brosna, Knocknagoshel and Castleisland. Come along and join in an evening of song, music and reflection. Everyone welcome.

Siamsa Tíre: Auditions will take place for new pupils at Siamsa Tíre Theatre on Saturday 2nd June from 10.00am - 2.00pm. Three year training is offered to successful candidates with the hope of becoming a member of the Siamsa Tíre Company.

Trócaire: Justin Kilcullen, Director, has written a letter to Fr. Pat thanking him and the people of this parish for our support for this year’s Lenten Campaign. So far this year our parish has donated € 3,892.96.

Padre Pio: The next Evening of Devotions in honour of Padre Pio (St. Pio of Pietrelcina) will take place next Thursday, 31st May 2012, in St. Brendan’s Church, Clogher, beginning at 7.15p.m. As always, everyone is welcome!

Parish Pastoral Council: The Parish Pastoral Council wishes to update the “Welcome” / “Céad Mile Fáilte” brochure which is given to new parishioners. Ministries Night: This Annual Social Evening in which we celebrate the involvement of so many people of all ages in various ministries in our parish will take place in St. Brendan’s Community Centre on Friday, 29th June 2012. We would like to see all Choir members, Musicians, Safeguarding Children Representatives, “Do This in Memory” Parents’ Coordinating Group, Collectors, Cleaners, Contact People, Altar Servers, Members of the Bazaar Committee & Parish Pastoral Council, Liturgy Groups, Finance Committee, Altar Society (i.e. those who take care of the flowers) etc. present. Training for Pastoral Leaders: The Diocese of Kerry will run a certified training programme for people involved in parish pastoral councils, liturgy groups, finance committees and safeguarding children committees. This course aims to nurture and deepen people’s faith, developing the confidence and competence of those involved in parish ministry and enabling them to make a greater contribution to the life of their parish and the Church. It will also equip parish leaders with the knowledge, skills and practice needed to be effective in parish ministry. The course will be run in two venues. Seats in the Porches: The seats in the porches of both churches were put there a couple of years ago by the Parish Pastoral Council to accommodate parents with childrenwho might be noisy or a source of distraction for other Mass-goers. We would ask that those seats be reserved for such please.
