2.  Minutes of the Last Meeting

Minutes of the last meeting held on March 9th 2017 were approved and signed.

3.  Matters Arising

·  The recruitment process for our new Admiral Nurses has commenced with a view to commencing the new service in late August.

·  Feedback on the Dementia evening has been positive and the group agreed that it would be helpful to arrange further meetings like this.

·  Dr Hibberd’s tea party was well received and the surgery has received donations totalling £229 to go to Medecins sans Frontieres.

·  The surgery continues to review it’s internal processes following input from the private facilitator employed by NHSE. Good practice will be shared with other surgeries.

·  The surgery has begun a process of data collection to help inform the planned research.

4.  Members’ items

·  TS raised the issue of the group holding an AGM. The PPG has a constitution – LW requested a copy if available. It was agreed that the AGM would be held before the general business of our next meeting on July 13th. JW will publicise the date in the hope that potential new members will join us. RT and JM will ensure that details are in the Elmham News and Reeves Tale.

·  LW suggested that it would be helpful for the Care Home Nurses to meet with the PPG. Other PPGs could be invited to increase numbers. LW will liaise with the CCG over this.

5.  Practice Items

·  Dr Rob Spooner will join the surgery as a partner in August – the areas covered by the GPs will be reviewed and re-distributed.

·  The Dementia Practitioner recently appointed to support the Mid Norfolk practices has had a significant impact already and will be working closely with the Admiral Nurses once they are in post.

·  JW re-discussed the proposed Multi Speciality Community Provider (MCP) which will involve all the practices in Mid Norfolk working together (this will formalise the current arrangement). The practices will form a Company which will be able to bid for contracts of 15 years duration. The MCP will cover a population of around 40,000 and will be able to appoint and manage it’s own staff.

6.  Chairman’s Items

·  JW confirmed that the Waiting time for Cancer referrals remains 2 weeks.

Cardiovascular referrals have varied waiting times as this specialty covers several different conditions. There is a new service in place which receives referrals relating to hip and knee problems – some of these patients will go straight to the NNUH and some are managed by the new Community service. The target waiting time to treatment for the latter is 18 weeks but this is often breached.

JW confirmed that patients continue to have choice in terms of the hospital they attend for an out patient appointment.

7.  Any Other Business

There were no other items raised under this agenda item.

The meeting closed promptly at 9.05pm

8.  Date & Time of Next Meeting – Thursday July 13th at 7.30pm
