Personal Profile

I am a trained Dancer and Theatre Practitioner with a wide range of experience delivering workshops and courses to a very wide range of Students in all settings.

I am experienced in delivering KS3, GCSE, A Level, BTEC Level 2 and BTEC Level 3 courses in Performing Arts, mainly Dance. I also have delivered a lot of clubs and workshops to Junior Schools.

I am a specialist in Contemporary Dance, Choreography, Physical Theatre, Creative Dance including improvisation, Contact Improvisation, Devising Theatre, Hip Hop and Movement for Actors. I am also very interested in Site Specific work, Directing plays, Integrated Dance and International Dance. I have also supported colleagues and friends with casual mentoring and consultancy in the areas I am most experienced.

Current Employment

Rubek Perform/Spirit: This is my own venture. There are three strands to Rubek:

1: I deliver freelance Performing Arts classes and workshops.

2: I create and sell a range of arts and crafts.

3: I provide childcare.

Freelance Performing Arts Teacher: I am freelance dance artist for the Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre in Bordon, Hampshire as well as for The Dance Movement who are based at Farnham Maltings.

Recent Work Experience

Tutor of Performing Arts: Guildford College Group - September 2010 – July 2014.

I have been teaching across campuses. At the Farnham College Campus I helped set up and deliver the BTEC in Performing Arts and also taught on the A level Drama and Theatre Studies course. At the Stoke Park Campus I have been delivering units on the level 3 BTEC Diplomas in Dance and Acting and the level 2 Diploma in Performance.

Dance Teacher: Yateley School - September 2009 – December 2011.

I taught from Yr7 to yr13 which included GCSE, A Level and BTEC Dance. I also assisted the Head of Dance with the Global Rock Challenge competition. Yateley Open Team won their Global Rock division competition on 30th April 2010.

Freelance Dance Teacher: The Dance Movement - September 2009 – July 2011.

I delivered a Hip Hop Breakfast Club at a local primary School.

Teacher in charge of Dance: Alton College - October 2005 – August 2010.

Setting up the dance department from October 2005.

Delivering G.C.S.E. and A Level Dance from September 2006 (Included single handedly putting on 11 Dance shows in the time I was there). From Sept 2006 – June 2009 I also delivered part of the AS Drama and Theatre Studies course (Included putting on seven productions). Teaching adults with severe learning difficulties. This role also included a link to Treloar College Performing Arts.

Dance & Drama Teacher: Dunannie Bedales pre-prep School - 24th April 2006 – July 2007.

Teaching Dance and Drama sessions alongside the curriculum and class themes. Creating and directing the annual school show.

Dance Teacher: Anstey Junior School - September 2005 – July 2007.

After school Dance club: Break Dance and Creative Dance leading to annual shows and performances in school assemblies.

Choreographer: The British Council of Jordan - Spring 2006.

Collaborative venture to merge two cultures. Working with a Jordanian Director on a Physical Theatre version of Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’.

Full Time Daily Activities Tutor and Co-ordinator & Support Worker: Iliace Ltd - September 2003 – August 2006.

Supporting adults with severe learning disabilities to conduct daily activities as independently as possible.

Performer and Teacher of English: A.C.L.E. Theatrino - January – June 2005.

Performing custom made English productions followed by delivering workshops teaching basic English skills.

Performer – Lead Role: Chaplins Ltd - November 2004 – January 2005.

Lead role of Aladdin in a production that toured the North West of England.

Choreographer, Teacher of Dance & Movement and Dance Consultant: City of York Council, Performing Arts Service - January 2002 – August 2003.

If a dance or movement workshop was requested by any group in the local community, we created and delivered it either as individuals or a team.

Running the Hip Hop club and performing in the break dance battles.
