Related Experience
August 2010-December 2013: Project Director for grant entitled National Research & Development Center-CREATE. The project will investigate two elementary schools in an urban school district and their methods for supporting their students byimplementing the Shelter Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model and a school-wide Response to Intervention (RTI) Model. As the Project Director I am responsible for overseeing day-to-day project activities; observing and supporting k-2 general education teachers involved in the study; supervising RAs; overseeing data collection, and assisting with analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating results.
January-July 2006: Worked collaboratively on a grant entitled Success for All Students in General Education funded by Boeing. Throughout the six months I assisted with the development and implementation of teacher seminars that introduced and supported teachers in collaborating with others and using assessment to drive instruction so that all of their students are successful.
February-October 2006: Worked collaboratively on a grant entitled National Research & Development Center-ELLs: The Effects of the SIOP Model on Science Instruction in Middle Schools. My participation in this grant included assisting with the organization of data; planning middle school science lessons based on the SIOP Model for teacher implementation;supervising RAs, and teacher coaching.
2004-2005: Master Teacher for a student teacher in the Education Specialist Credential program at CSULB.
2001-2005: Lead Teacher (Department Chair) for the Special Education Department at Hill Classical Middle School in the Long Beach Unified School District.
