RE: Support for Navy League STEM Advocacy Program

Dear Rear Adm. Thomas,

The Navy League ______Council is proud to support the Navy League of the United States in the Navy League STEM Advocacy Program. As President of the ______Council, I know all too well the importance of fostering the intellectual growth of the youth in our community, thereby increasing their opportunities and contribution to society as successful adults. The STEM Advocacy Program provides youth with an opportunity to experiment with concepts and topics such as material engineering, ocean dynamics and robotics.

The Navy League ______Council will identify a Council STEM Ed Coordinator that will work closely with the Navy League Director of Programs to facilitate the implementation of the program. The Navy League Director of Programs will coordinate all program components including but not limited to Education, Research, Training and Mentoring. The Director will also coordinate national partner services to the community STEM education networks and is control of disbursement of funding at the local level.

The Council STEM Ed Coordinator will identify, maintain and broker partnerships within the community to meet program needs. The STEM Ed Coordinator will integrate program components from the national partners supporting the program as well as work through community partners to recruit STEM Education volunteers and students. The community partnerships will aid the STEM Ed Coordinator while working with local science centers to add STEM learning experiences to the program.

The Council STEM Ed Coordinator will be the liaison between the community partners, volunteer instructors and the Director of Programs. This symbiotic relationship will facilitate the implementation of informal science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs for youth in our community. The hands-on, experiment based program provides informal exposure of concepts and topics such as materials engineering, ocean dynamics and robotics.

Our Council STEM Ed Coordinator has initiated dialogue with our potential community partners whom are eager to participate in this multilayered project. We expect to have a mutually beneficial arrangements and understandings delineated in the near future.

The partnership between the Navy League ______Council and the Navy League of the United States is geared toward long-term cooperation, sustainability and expansion. The Navy League ______Council is eager to work with the Navy League of the United States to expand access to informal STEM education through this outstanding technology training.

Sincerely,
