Ready Reference Resources Style Guide

Logging in to PBWiki:

  1. Go to
  2. Log in using your email and the password sent to you. If you don’t have this, please contact Susan Barb ().
  3. Click on the Ready Reference Resources Link

Adding New Pages:

  1. Click on Edit Page
  2. Find the place in the alphabetical list where the new page title will be and hit enter
  3. Type the Page title
    Font: Bullet list, Verdana, Medium
  4. Highlight the text just typed and click on the link icon in the tool bar and select the following:
    Link type: WikiPage
    Link to wiki page: New Page
    New Page Name: should be the text you highlighted
    Link Text: should be the text you highlighted

This will result in the page name in the list being underlined with a dotted red line. This indicates a new page waiting to be created.

  1. Click on the link just created
  2. Name the new page the same as the link created (should already be in the box)
  3. Choose the Ready Reference template from the list of templates
  4. Click Create New Page
  5. Begin adding content
  6. Save the edits

Editing the Sidebar

The sidebar is present on all the Ready Reference Resource pages as a navigation tool to save time. However, it does not automatically update when a new page is created; that must be done manually. This should be done as soon as the new page has been saved.

To edit the sidebar:

  1. Click on the edit link at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Find the place in the alphabetical list where the new page title will be and hit enter
  3. Type the Page title
    Font: Bullet list, Verdana, xx-Small
  4. Highlight the text just typed and click on the link icon in the tool bar and select the following:
  5. Link type: WikiPage
  6. Choose the page name from the drop down list of Wiki pages
  7. Save the edits.

Page Style

The page style elements are included in the template. They are also listed below so that editors can manually edit the page also.

Header:

Font: Heading 1, Verdana, Large, Centered

Table of Contents

The table of contents (TOC) is generated automatically by giving the subcategories the Heading 1 format (see below). The TOC script is in the template already. To manually add a TOC:

  1. Place the cursor where the TOC will be located on the page
  2. Click on the Insert Plug-in icon on the editing tool bar
  3. Choose PBWiki Magic
  4. Click on Table of Contents
  5. Choose how many heading levels to include. It can be left at the default
  6. Click OK

Subcategories

Font: Heading 1, Verdana, Medium, Left

Spacing: Skip a line between last entry and the Subcategory heading

Annotated Entries

To add a new resource:

  1. Make sure that the resource is being added in alphabetical order in its subcategory
  2. Type the Resource name: Font – Verdana, x-Small, Bold
  3. Enter 7 spaces with the spacebar
  4. Type in the actual URL of the new resource
  5. Highlight and copy the URL just entered
  6. Click on the link icon in the editing toolbar
  7. Paste the URL into the address box provided and click OK
  8. Highlight the Page name and repeat steps 6 & 7
  9. Type the annotation for the resource directly below the Page name (no skipped lines).
  10. Font is Verdana, x-small
  11. The annotation should include what is useful about the site and any particular audience it is directed to.
  12. Save the Edits.

To add another resource, repeat the steps above, skipping one line after the end of each resource.

Reverting to a Previous Page Version

To clear all the edits made and revert to a previous version of the page:

  1. Click on Show All Pages at the bottom center of the wiki page
  2. Find the page to be reverted. It will have a link to the number of revision made of the page
  3. Click the revisions link, and choose the version to revert to.
  4. Click that link to open the page.
  5. Click on the Revert to this version button
  6. You must be logged in to do this.
