Public Library & Cincinnati Recreation Commission Team Up for Findlay Market Opening Day Parade

March 27, 2013: Cincinnati, OH – The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and the Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) have teamed up for “Reading, Recreation & the Reds” during Opening Day. To showcase the strengths of both organizations and pay tribute to the Cincinnati Reds, who have been very supportive of the missions of both organizations over the years, they will once again be partnering together to celebrate Cincinnati’s baseball tradition.

Don’tmiss theCRC & the Library in the Parade: Be sure and watch for staff members of both organizations (and youth who excel by using their services)march together in the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade on Monday, April 1 (#122 in the line-up).

This year, the two organizations also collaborated on building a parade float depicting a favorite Cincinnati pastime, a “baseball storytime” where Library mascots, Rufus the Reading Dog and Red the Library Card, read to kids who frequent theWestwood Town Hall Winton Hills recreation centersand the Public Library.

Join Team Read!Through the years the Public Library, CRC and the Cincinnati Reds have partnered together on a number of programs to promote awareness for reading and recreation, both essential to the well-being of our community. Most recently they have partnered together to encourage youth to read during Summer Reading andRedlegs Reading Week and to encourage Library card sign-ups during The World Largest Red Card Dance Party on Fountain Square.
