Introduction

TREC Irelandispleased to invite all competitors to Dingle, Co.Kerryfor the TREC Ireland National Championships 2015. This competition includes qualifier classes for the TREC GB Championships of Great Britain 2016.

The competition will be held in Dingle, Co.Kerry.

Competition information

Competitors can expect to be riding across varied terrain which will include quiet country roads, tracks, fields, multi-use paths, beach etc.We must stress the need to keep gates closed and to ensure that you follow the Country Code.

Entries received and paid up to30th August are at prices stated below.

For entries received between the 31st August 2015and the 5th September 2015 there is an additional charge of €5.

Entries will not be accepted after the 5th September 2015.

Events are organized based on number of riders and volunteers and certain costs are fixed. Due to this refunds will only be made for cancellations notified prior to the 30th August. A 50% refund will be made to cancellations between31st August and 5th September 2015. Any cancellations made after 5thSeptember cannot be refunded. Amounts paid for the BBQ will be refunded on cancellations made before5th September 2015.

Class 7: Team Competition. (Entries by 8pm on Friday11th September2015, entry is €5 per rider).

Class 8: Veteran class:

Horses over 20 and/or Riders over 60

Class 9: TREC GB Qualifier for Championships of Great Britain 2016. Levels 2, 3 and 4 included. Maximumheights and distances are as specified in the TREC GB rules. Riders must be fully paid up BHS Gold Members or have evidence of the equivalent insurance. Riders must have a Riders Licence in accordance with TREC GB rules.

Body Protectors

Riders taking part in Class 9 and riders 18years and under must wear a body protector for the PTV phase of the competition.

Important information

Food

Riders are expected to bring their own lunch packs, we will however provide water bottles. Food will be provided for all helpers on both Saturday and Sunday, and all helpers will receive a meal ticket for the meal on Saturday night. Extra tickets for friends, partners etc. who are not volunteering can be purchased for €15.

Social

A meal for riders and helpers will be hostedat Tig Aines, Graigue, Ballyferriter on Saturday night at 7.30pm.

Passports

It is a legal requirement to carry a passport when a horse is used for the purposes of competition. If a horse is transported without a passport when being used for competition purposes an offence is being committed and prosecution is a possibility. Passport will be required at vetting.

Registration of Equine Premises

Include the registration of equine premises number on the entry form. If you have not yet registered your equine premises, you can obtain information and the registration form at . The registration takes approximately 2-3 weeks. There is no fee to register. The reason for registering and record keeping is so as to enable the Department of Agriculture to have information on the location of horses and their contacts with other horses in order that in the event of a disease outbreak, owners can be identified and advised of any necessary precautions. TREC Ireland may be asked to provide a list of registration numbers for all horses/ponies that participated/attended the event. If you do not yet have a registration number at the time you are submitting your entry, you may submit your entry anyway. You will have the opportunity to provide your equine number on the day. If your application is still being processed at the time of the event you can still participate, but will still be required to provide the number after the event.

Vetting

All horses/ponies in levels 2, 3 and 4 will be vetted prior to the start of the competition. Vetting will commence at 6.00pm on Friday11th September. Vetting will be carried out in accordance with TREC Ireland and TREC GB rules.Riders are required to familiarize themselves with these rules.

The competition will consist of three phases, the winners being those with the highest points accumulated across the three phases. Maximum possible total from all three phases is 460 points.

Presentations

Presentations will take place approximately 30 minutes after the results for all classes have been posted. Delays to the presentation will be as a result of objections or queries that will need to be resolved before it can go ahead.

Official objections

Queries and objections will be dealt with in accordance with TREC Ireland rules and TRECGB rules and riders are required to familiarise themselves with these rules.

Code of Ethics

TREC Ireland’s ‘Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children’s Sport’ will be adhered to for this event. Please note the following changes to previous events:

-All parents must fill in ‘Junior Participants Form’ (page 29 of the Code).

-All parents and junior participants must fill in the entry form with the understanding that they ‘agree to abide by TREC Ireland’s code of ethics and good practice’ – this also allows TREC Ireland to include photos of the junior participants on the internet and any newspapers such as The Irish Field.

-Any junior helper must either be accompanied by two adults, an adult family member, or must fill out ‘Travelling Leader’ form (page 18 of the code). It is up to the junior helper to get this filled out and NOT the duty of the organizer. Forms will be available from the Secretary on the day.

-Anybody involved in any way with the event on any or all days, must sign in using the provided sign in sheet (in the secretary’s tent).

Venue: An Bothar Pub – Cuas, Ballydavid.

Go straight through Dingle town past Dingle Oceanworld until you come to a roundabout. Go straight through roundabout signposted Feothanach. Continue for approx.5 miles until you see a sign for An Bothar Pub at a fork in the road. Turn right and continue on for about 2 miles.

And we are not telling you where the POR starts until Friday!!!!!

Can you or anyone coming with you lend a hand? Please enclose with your entry, details of anyone who would be available to help with stewarding or judging, before or during the event.. Competitors can also help us with setting up, clearing equipment away, or judging the PTV or CoP for other Levels. No judging qualification necessary – we are grateful for all offers of help and you will learn lots from the inside! Even a couple of hours help can make a difference and there are lots of jobs suitable for non-horsey mums/dads/partners.We provide all volunteers with a free lunch pack.
