Re.: Test of absorptive dressing QuickSeal Bandage

The absorptive covering dressing and active carbon fabric, produced of pure carbon, the trademark QuickSeal Bandage was used in our office in six cases of covering of post-operative wounds after the castration of bitches. Futura was always done by the plastic stitch of RESOLON material, the dressing QuickSeal Bandage was humidified by saline as per the manual. The dressing was changed twice after 24 hours and then twice after 48 hours which was considered as sufficient for this purpose. The stitches were removed on the eighth dan after operation.

In the other 4 cases it was a question of futura covering after various operations. The futuras were done by the nodular stitches of RESOLON material, the absorptive covering dressing humidified by saline, dressings changed basically after 24 hours. The stitch was removed after eight, resp. in two cases after ten days.

In all the ten cases a non-problematic healing of the wound in a quick time succession came about. Not even in a single case no inflammatory, or allergic reactions occurred.

In the other two cases the absorptive covering dressing QuickSeal Bandage was used for the treatment of suppurative wounds. The basis was the wash- out of wound by the BETADINA solution, then the total antibiotic screen. The change of dressings by QuickSeal Bandage with the humified saline were done in the first three days twice after 12 hours, then after 24 hours. In both the cases an extraordinary acceleration of the wound healing with a minimum caving-in and without any complications took place.

From the above, relatively brief text it can be judged that for one thing no undesirable reactions develop, on the other hand a substantial acceleration of healing processes takes place. Therefore the dressing covering of Quick Seal Bandage is a suitable measure in veterinary practice, at least in similar cases. Additional tests and a longer observation are necessary for the other opinion.

Report on application of preparation QuickSeal Bandage

Vet. office of MVDr. Michaela Riedlová, Maďarská 3, Praha 6

On 26.4. 2006 the patient Brit –NO, male, age of 8 years, was shown at our workplace with the anamnesis of apathy, inapetention, unwillingness to stand up. The patient has had the dermatological allergic problems since its youth, in the long run since the age of 2 years on

Prednison in dosage of 20 – 50 mg daily depending on the momentary condition. In the last time it was also medicated by Pro-roxicam due to pain of joints with arthroritic changes.

The clinical examination: dog did not almost walk, T 40,6°C, considerable enlargement of prescapular lymph-nodes, considerable swelling of both thoratic limbs with painfulness of elbows. On both the elbows the infected sores – on the right an open abscess, on the left one only sore.

I applied i.v. celalosporines, NSAID, on both the elbows sus. Višněvski was applied under the dressing. Antibiotics and analgesics (celadroxil 1,5 g daily, Anopyrin 400 mg daily) were given to the owner with the check-up after a weekend, so long as the dog does not get better or immediately- due to its age and long-term total condition of the patient they themselves proposed the option of euthanasia, if the condition does not get better.

At the check-up after the weekend on 30.4. the dog was without any temperature, sores were reduced to almost the norm, on the left elbow the abscess of ...... pouch opened – the wound was ca. 3x3cm large, relatively deep ( 5 – 6mm) with suppurative base. The right elbow – a small lesion almost without secretion – in healing.

QuickSeal Bandage was applied on the left elbow as per the instructions, the changes of dressing recommended at home on the 1st day after 12 hours, as of the2nd day 1x daily together with the resumption of antibiotic and analgesic treatment.

The check-up on 11.5.: dog was joyful, without temperature, willing to walk, palp. joints little painful, right elbow (without QuickSeal Bandage susp. Višněvski) almost healed, left elbow after the application of QuickSeal Bandage wound reduced to the size of 1x1 cm , with a healthy granulation tissue, deep max. 1 mm.

The healing finished ca. one week on susp. Višněvsli, already without antibiotics.
