RE: ACTION NEEDED TO CONTINUE RECEIVING CARE DISCOUNT
Dear Pacific Power Master Metered Customer:
This letter is to inform you that all CARE master metered customers must be recertified to verify they are eligible for the CARE discount program. Please assist in this process by distributing the enclosed applications to tenants at your facility. Applications need to be returned by March 1, 2013, in order to continue to receive the CARE discount for these units.
The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program provides a 20 percent discount to income-eligible households, and is available on residential accounts including master metered accounts with sub-metered tenants. This program is mandated by the California legislature through Senate Bill 987 and has been in place since 1989.
Master meter customers, in accordance with the Public Utility Code, must provide all discount and utility notices and communications to their sub-metered tenants. Please provide your tenants with their master meter account number then collect and return the completed application to Pacific Power. Eligible tenants will receive a 20 percent discount on their sub-metered accounts.
In addition, please complete the enclose CARE master metered customer information summary sheet with your application.
Upon receipt of the completed applications, we will also provide you with a list of tenants who have been certified to receive the CARE discount so you can make proper adjustments to their monthly billing.
For your convenience, a bill calculator has been designed to assist you with your monthly billing of CARE and non-CARE tenants. This calculator can be accessed on our website pacificpower.net/care.
