Re:1st Week of Transition and Program Up-Dates.
It is appropriate at this time I express my concerns and share with you additional up-dated changes. On last week Dr. Roberts informed me through Dr. Melvin Lowe that there were several behavior issues with various students. Dr. Roberts expressed to me and through documentation that he had to issue suspensions. I would like to share my position. Dr. Roberts is the Lead Teacher and Administrator, and I trust his decision-making and judgment. I support his professional administrative discretion.
Per your convenience you may contact either of us Dr. Mary Lowe or Dr. Melvin Lowe if you have concerns that warrant our attention. However, we ask that if it is a concern that relates to your son or daughter that you first talk with Dr. Roberts. Additionally you may reach him via the school telephone between 8:30a.m. – 11:45a.m. At 12:00p.m. daily the phones are transferred and calls thereafter are returned in the order received within a timely manner.
The following are areas of concern(s) that I feel your attention is necessary:
All progress reports will be issued on Thursdays of each week. We will no longer issue progress reports daily.
Homework will be issued daily. If you son or daughter does not report home with a blue binder and homework, please see Dr. Roberts.
All school rules will be heavily enforced as our student population is increasing thus will student management procedures.
Students have been given a final directive regarding cellular phones. Students who drive must and will leave their phones in their cars. Students who are dropped off will place their phones in the off position and in the appropriate basket. Students who violate this procedure in the future will be withdrawn from
the program. (Students may call their parents during the day from the school phone only, after being given permission by a Staff Member). Parents please encourage your child to follow this rule.
Dr. Roberts informed me that various students elected to break and otherwise destroy paper, pens, and pencils, etc. on last week. Please encourage your child not to destroy property of the school or foundation.
All report cards will be mailed at the end of the first nine weeks. Thereafter conferences if necessary can be held with your child’s teacher. (Be reminded that your son or daughter must successfully complete 18 assignments in each of their subjects in order to have their top 9 grades used per their final assessment grade. Grades of (I) incomplete(s) will be given for poor effort, missing grades, and failed effort on the part of the student).
I have instructed Dr. Melvin Lowe to telephone all parents when a student is absent or does not sign-in. Your calls may be as late as 8:00p.m. on the evening of their absence. He will also call if Dr. Roberts marks them late and if this is a repeated practice.
In short, it is my wish that you are comfortable and educationally satisfied with our program. Should you have concerns for either of us that you please contact us on the foundation line 334-396-6785 your calls will be returned. You may also reach us via e-mail at:
or
all communications will be addressed in a timely manner.
