CARPACCIO DI MANZO
A dish made of thin slices of raw beef to which shavings of Parmesan cheese are added. The creator of the original dish, Giuseppe Cipriani, named the dish in honour of Italian painter Vittore Carpaccio. The colour of raw meat reminded Cipriani of the intense red colours Carpaccio used in his paintings.

SPAGHETTI ALLA PUTTANESCA
Italian restaurateur Sandro Petti was near closing one evening when he noticed a group of customers sitting at one of his tables. Petti was low on ingredients and told them he didn't have enough to make them a meal."Facci una puttanata qualsiasi (Make any kind of garbage)," they insisted. In this usage, puttanata is an Italian noun meaning something worthless. At the time, Petti had nothing more than four tomatoes, two olives and some capers. So he used them to make the sauce for the spaghetti. Later, Petti included this dish on his menu as spaghetti alla puttanesca.

FESTA DELLA MAMMA mothers day
Sunday 11th May
In Italy the “mamma” is an institution like in no other country. Husbands usually bring flowers to their wives. Sons and daughters, if they are attending elementary school, usually present a poem in honour to their mothers. Of course, the celebrations are complimented with a traditional Italian meal for the whole family.
Treat your “mamma” this Mothers Day to a special lunch or dinner at Andiamo
