Ramps Connecting I-215 East,

Airport Connector Closing Overnight Thursday

Both ramps connecting 1-215 East and the Airport Connector will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 16, to 5 a.m. Friday, June 17, due to ongoing construction there.

The closed ramps bring traffic heading south on the Airport Connector to eastbound 215; and from eastbound 215 to the northbound Airport Connector – this ramp is also known as Exit 10 off the 215.

Drivers are encouraged to use Russell Road or Tropicana Avenue as alternate routes during the closures.

Traffic on westbound 215 will not be affected by this closure, but pre-existing lane shifts and closures in this area will remain in place.

This work is part of the Phase 2 – Airport Connector Project, which includesconstruction of a new flyover ramp and bridge connecting southbound Airport Connector to eastbound 215, widening the off-ramp from eastbound 215 to Warm Springs Road and construction of a new bridge for that off-ramp, and the widening of a bridge carrying westbound 215 traffic over the Airport Connector. The entire project is expected to be finished in the fall of 2017.Previously enacted lane restrictions and closures related to this project will remain in place including the closure of the ramp that brings traffic from Sunset Road to the southbound Airport Connector, and lane reductions on southbound Airport Connector as vehicles exit the tunnel. Also, access to the northbound Airport Connector from George Crockett Road remains closed.Additional lane closures and lane shifts are expected during the project, and notice of those traffic impacts will be provided on electronic message boards in the area and through Clark County social media sites. The Public Works Department has set up a page on Clark County’s website at provide details about the project. The public can also contact the department at (702) 455-6000 or via email at for information.Las Vegas Paving is the contractor for this project, which is being funded in part through Fuel Revenue Indexing. For the average motorist, the cost is about a dime a day to generate up to $700 million to fund 220 projects and create approximately 9,000 jobs. For more information, go to To date, Fuel Revenue Indexing has made it possible for local governments to award 138 contracts with a combined value of more than $328 million and creating 4,231 jobs.
