CLUB RULES
1.Title
The Club shall be called the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Table Tennis Club (RALTTC).
2.Affiliation
The club shall be affiliated to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Recreational Society (RARS).
3.Membership
All categories of membership of the RARS shall be eligible to join the RALTTC. Club facilities shall be available to members only.
4.Objects
The objects of the Club shall be:
(a)To encourage the playing of table tennis at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
(b)To organise such competitions as may be decided.
(c)To enter teams into local leagues as required.
5.Constitution
The policy of the Club, the management of its affairs and the administration of its rules shall be vested in the Executive Committee which shall consist of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, any Sub-Committee Chairmen and up to 3 ordinary members, all elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The posts of Secretary and Treasurer may be combined. Not more than two Associate member may be elected to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall consist of at least 5 people, shall have a quorum of 3 and shall have the power to co-opt if its membership falls below 5 during the year.
6.Sub-Committees
Sub-Committees may be set up at the AGM to organise any activity as deemed necessary. A Sub-Committee shall consist of a Chairman and up to 4 additional members elected at the AGM. Not more than one Associate member may be elected onto any one Sub-Committee. A Sub-Committee shall have the power to organise its designated activities, including the appointment of a Secretary and Treasurer as required.
The Sub-Committee will report to the Executive Committee and to the AGM. If the Sub-Committee handles any accounts, these shall be open for inspection by the Executive Committee at any time and a statement shall be presented to the AGM. If a Sub-Committee needs to request funds from the RARS, this request must be endorsed by the Executive Committee.
Once established, a Sub-Committee may be disbanded only by a General Meeting.
7.Annual General Meeting
The AGM shall be held not later than June 30th each year. At least 14 days notice shall be given to all members. Club Rules may be altered only at this meeting and 14 days notice shall be given of any proposed rule changes. Decisions on all issues will be made by simple majority of those present and voting, with the Chairman having a casting vote. All members of the RALTTC shall be allowed to vote at a General Meeting.
A minimum of 6 people shall constitute a quorum. If the quorum is not reached, the meeting shall be declared void and a further 14 days notice given of an Extraordinary General Meeting. This meeting will replace the AGM for that year.
8.Extraordinary General Meeting
An EGM may be called by
(a)the Executive Committee
(b)the Secretary on written request by at least 6 members.
The rules governing the AGM shall apply except that no quorum shall be necessary.
