POSITION DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESORCES, 8900

DIVISION: MOUNT RAINIER

TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

PREREQUISITES:

Education: High school graduate.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Strong interpersonal skills, general office and administrative skills including accurate typing, letter composition, computer, telephone, fax and copier.

Personal Qualitiesand Physical Requirements:

Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively. Must be able to write legibly as well as read and understand directions and instructions. Appearance must be in compliance with company guidelines.

Will be required to perform diverse physical tasks. Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, and perform repetitive motions. Must be able to be in a sitting position for 2 hour stretches. Must be able to lift 10 pounds periodically.

Must be service and safety oriented. Must possess a sense of awareness, timelines, urgency, humor, and common sense. Must be able to adapt to the isolation of national park life.

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide support and assistance to Human Resources Manager and employees.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Personal computer, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft office, HRIS software, multi-line telephones, fax machine and ten-key calculator.

NATURE AND SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: Receives working direction from Human Resources Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards.
  • Receive and process incoming mail, send out employment applications. Respond to e-mail applications and application requests.
  • Check employment references on applications using telephone or mail as directed by the Human Resources Manager.
  • Type and mail Employment Agreements and report letters. Cancel outdated Employment Agreements.
  • Answer telephone, handle communication with current or prospective employees and answer questions about working in the park. Give directions and assist in travel arrangements for new employees.
  • Enter personnel information in computer database, print reports for various departments. Maintain database accuracy as personnel changes occur.

TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Cont.):

  • Assign employee time card numbers, order employee name badges and type employee ID cards. Produce arrival packets for Residence Supervisor. Work with the Accounting Office in maintaining time card number accuracy.
  • Prepare and maintain Personnel files. Update as needed. Track all personnel forms, I-9's, W4's, ADR's, background checks, etc.
  • Advertise for vacant positions as indicated by Human Resources Manager or Operations Manager, using established newspaper accounts and online recruiting resources. Maintain and update advertising expenditures.
  • Update Policy and Procedures Manual as needed.
  • Prepare Personnel Action forms for new hires and changes for Human Resources Manager approval.
  • Assist as needed with employee orientations.
  • Performs such other related duties as directed or required.
