ENVoY: A Classroom Management System

About the Program:

ENVoY is a powerful and respectful system of classroom management used by successful teachers to improve student learning. ENVoY is an acronym that stands for “Educational Nonverbal Yardsticks”, which is also a metaphor for an “envoy”, someone who is an ambassador who successfully juggles the balance of holding the student accountable for his or her behavior, while at the same time, maintaining the teacher-student relationship.

The program traditionally begins with a two-day interactive workshop. The trainer shares the ENVoY skills, models them for the teachers, and then gives teachers the opportunity to practice each skill in small groups. By the end of the workshop, teachers have a strong foundation in the ENVoY system. The trainer then visits teachers on a regular basis throughout the school year to gently encourage and guide teachers as they implement what they have learned in the workshop. As teachers become consistent with the ENVoY skills, classrooms become more peaceful and productive. Students feel safe and confident.Teachers have more energy at the end of the day.By reducing teacher burnout, we can help teachers shift their energy from management to curriculum.

About the Coach/Trainer: www.rachelbabbsconsulting.com

Personally trained by Michael Grinder, Rachel Babbs Consulting offers trainings in non-verbal communication and group dynamics, both in the classroom as well as on a district-wide basis. The ENVoY Programs are systemic strategies that are easy to learn and quick to employ.

The ENVoY Trilogy:

· ENVoY: Preserving relationships while gaining compliance in the classroom. ENVoY, the name given to the system of non-verbal techniques presented in this training, will improve classroom climate, enhance student productivity, and decrease the level of staff burnout.

· A Cat in the Doghouse: In this course we use the analogy of cultural cats to explain students. Dog students come when they are called, and cat students have an answering machine. This program teaches how to establish relationships with the cat students.

· A Healthy Classroom—Group Dynamics in the Classroom: By using ENVoY, leading-edge teachers have changed the way we educate children today. A Healthy Classroom is the next step. This new program takes the science of ENVoY to the art of students self-managing the classroom; thereby freeing the teacher to assist students on an individual basis.
