Four Square Task Explanations

Passage Picking / Your task in the Passage Picker square is to find passages/quotes in the story that you think are interesting, surprising, important, meaningful, and thought-provoking or demonstrate foreshadowing. Record each passage you chose, the page in which you found it, why you chose it and the importance it has to the story. If the passage is too long, record the first and last parts of the excerpts. You will read these to your group and share why you chose your passages.
Image Illustrating/ Paperclip Frames / This task involves visualizing what you’ve read. This might mean drawing a scene as a cartoonlike sequence or an important scene so readers can better understand the action. Use captions to explain how your drawing relates to the text.
Character Counts / Choose two characters from the novel and list two internal characteristics for each. Cite textual evidence to support your claim in the second column. Focus on the concept on IDENTITY and not only how they see themselves but also on how other see them.
