Quiet Heart Pilgrimage to India!

A journey of the heart . . .

Focusing exclusively on the places, personages, and histories

of our SRF/YSS line of Gurus. . .

12 February - 13 March 2015

It’s sure to be a deeply felt spiritual retreat as we touch the hallowed ground Guruji has written about in His Autobiography!

Week One: Those pilgrims who will be enjoying a 3 or 4-week pilgrimage will have an opportunity to come a few days earlier and experience Agra, Brindaban, and Mathura. Master and Ma visited Agra's famous monuments; and Week One takes us there!! We, too, will experience the unparallel Taj Mahal and Agra Fort! Then we will visit the legendary Brindaban and Mathura and muse on what it would have been like in Sri Krishnaji's time. This week will also find us meeting some of the devotees and monastics at the YSS Noida Ashram. (Note: this portion is not available for a 2-week itinerary.)

Then we will welcome those devotees joining us for a 2 or 3-week pilgrimage. We will all experience the YSS Delhi Kendra, and possibly have a private satsang with a YSS senior monastic. Shopping in the Delhi Bazaars adds a classic Indian experience to our week.We are told that Master used to like to shop and bargain, and we will get our chance to do the same!!

Then we are off to Babaji's Cave!! We will be taking the same overnight train route that Daya Mataji took to Kathgodam where she had her vision of Babaji on the way to Babaji's Cave, and we will take the same car route Ma took up the mountain to Dwarahat on the way to the Cave. We'll stop for chai and snacks and a little village shopping walk in the scenic Ranikhet where Babaji arrange for Lahiri Mahasaya to be stationed as an accountant. Then it's on to the YSS Dwarahat Ashram where we will be staying for a few days -- one of them being a leisurely climb tothe holy Babaji's Cave!

Week Two: Returning to Delhi by overnight train, we will experience some of the contradictions Guruji writes about in one article where he relates that India is a land of intensity and contradictions…. After visiting Delhi's famous Sikh Temple (Guruji mentions Guru Nanak in the AY), and paying our respects to Hanuman, Ganesh, and Sri Krishna at the same Birla Temple Brother Anandamoyji visited, we will linger over anincredibly opulent buffet breakfast in a 5-star hotel!

The next day we fly to Kolkata and after an interesting ride we enter the peaceful gates of the YSS Dakshineswar Ashram on the bank of the Ganges. Guruji said that it was Lahiriji and Babaji who were responsible for making this ashram possible. Staying at the YSS Dakshineswar Ashram, we will have the opportunity to meet some of the devotees and monastics at the Dakshineswar ashram, and a deeper appreciation for Master's "large family" will dawn as we get to participate in the group meditations with the monastics, and hear the chants in Bengali, Hindi, and English.

Our hearts soar as we take blessed and fun day trips to Guruji's attic room and bedroom where Babaji and Krishnaji came to Him at 4 Garpar Road, and meeting Guruji's grand nephew family, visiting Sri Yukteswarji's Hermitage in Serampore, and His uncle's house now made into a YSS Center Retreat, seeing the college where Guruji went, and holding Guruji's hand as we enter into the crowded famous old Kolkata Bazaar, and the Kali Temple.

Week Three: Seaside Puri is our next adventure. An overnight train takes us to the Puri sands of the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, where we will stay at the YSS Retreat and visit Sri Yukteswarji's Karar Ashram, and the Sri Chaitanya temple, as well as get a "drive-by" view of the Jagannath temple. Then we will take a day trip in a "3-wheeler" or "tuk-tuk" out amongst the rice "paddy" fields to one of the outlaying villages; the utter simplicity is such a long way away from Starbucks and Wal-Mart!!

Coming back to Kolkata by overnight train, we again treat the senses with another leisurely 5-Star buffet breakfast! Since we are in the city, we will have a perfect opportunity to visit one of my favorite shops -"Chamba Lamba" a Tibetan jewelry shop inside famous "New Market" which is actually nearly 150 years old! (You can find them both well covered online!)

After a good night's rest at the Dakshineswar Ashram we drive to Dihika, and stay the better part of 2 days at the YSS Retreat Center on the grounds where Master had his first school-- before Ranchi! The vibes there on the village plain are unique and there are very few distractions to cover Guruji's palpable Presence. Perhaps you've seen this picture; it's Guruji at Dihika when he went back to visit in 1935-36.

We return to Dakshineswar in time for Sunday services on the Mandir veranda…a place that etches its way into your consciousness for a lifetime….

That night some Quiet Hearts will be very quiet and they prepare to fly home…India changes you….

Week Four: For those staying on, there are more indelible, incredible memories to come; a trip to Ranchi where all that you are and know comes into focus as an undreamed-of possibility. Staying at the YSS Ashram, with so much richness of insight and experience already burgeoning the confines of your consciousness, a time for reflections steals over the heart and mind, and with it an unbelievable, uncontainable inner gratitude…one that will surely spill over the rest of your life.

Every prayer you utter after your pilgrimage will be endowed with an incredible increase in intimacy with the Divine because of the enlarged scope of your sense of the wondrous Soul Journey of incarnations that being on a Quiet Heart Pilgrimage brings into view.

And upon returning, every SRF altar you come before will stir a new closeness with our Gurus born of your experiences of this lifetime in holy Mother India!

Jai Guruji! Jai Ma!

With you in Their constant care and perfect timing!
